Title: mexf: Mexico federal routes
Post by: neroute2 on August 03, 2019, 10:43:46 pm
jump to after the log (http://forum.travelmapping.net/index.php?topic=3147.msg17857#msg17857)

I'm going to attempt to list all the federal routes as a first step in creating the system. Sources are:
http://www.sct.gob.mx/carreteras/direccion-general-de-servicios-tecnicos/datos-viales/2019/
http://www.sct.gob.mx/carreteras/direccion-general-de-conservacion-de-carreteras/longitud-red-federal/
http://www.gob.mx/imt/acciones-y-programas/red-nacional-de-caminos (GIS data)
A few preliminary remarks:
Routes have gaps through cities, and an alignment to continue through is not always signed. Branches and "business routes" share numbers with the main routes. Datos Viales appears to include many through-city routes that are not federally maintained; Longitud Red Federal includes some historic info on when portions were given to cities.

*1 Cabo San Lucas (19) - Tijuana
**Aeropuerto de los Cabos: branch (signed, at least in 2009)
**Cereso los Cabos: branch (unsigned, at least in 2009; only appears in GIS)
**Caduaño: branch (unsigned, at least in 2009; only appears in GIS)
**Miraflores: branch (signed as both 1 and blank, at least in 2009; GIS puts the end here (https://www.google.com/maps/@23.3713023,-109.7781362,3a,75y,0.59h,82.35t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sHqMlkBwZNM5GpjTeAGXynw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656), while DV and LRF say it's 2.2 km, which puts the end here (https://www.google.com/maps/@23.3687139,-109.7729839,3a,75y,257.26h,67.42t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sx_dJVoEhElTBFtJHNNu9iQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656))

**Los Barriles: branch (signed as blank, at least in 2009; not in any source)

**Aeropuerto de Palo Verde: branch (unsigned, at least in 2009)
**Santa Rosalia: gap (obvious route)

**Paredones: branch (unsigned, at least in 2009)
**Aeropista San Ignacio: branch (signed, at least in 2009)
**El Marasal: gap (obvious route)
**Vizcaíno: branch (signed, at least in 2009; LRF says it's 8 km, but is this from the junction or from somewhere west that maintenance begins?)
**Guerrero Negro: branch (signed, at least in 2009; no longer federally maintained; not clear where endpoint is/was (4.5 km))
**Aeropista Paralelo 28: branch (unsigned, at least in 2009; only in LRF)

***Parador Bahía de los Angeles: branch (don't know where this is or if it's signed; GIS shows a branch east of the airport but it's more than 3 km)
**Aeropista Santa Inés: branch (unsigned, at least in 2009; only in LRF)

**El Sauzal: gap (obvious route)
**Primo Tapia: gap (obvious route)
**Rosarito: gap (obvious route)
**Playas de Tijuana: branch (the 4.3 km section appears to begin here (https://www.google.com/maps/@32.5318594,-117.0631021,3a,75y,302.57h,76.16t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sIdrbP3hz6ub1NgxBYI4WdA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) and follow what is signed as 1 and 1D to the Playas exit, but where is the 1.30 km section? east or west of this?)
**Tijuana: gap (probably makes sense to end it at the beltway)

*2 Playa Lauro Villar - Ciudad Acuña

**Puente Internacional de Libre Comercio: branch (unsigned, at least in 2009; locally maintained?)
**Rio Bravo: gap (signed westbound via both the bypass and the business route, at least in 2009; eastbound there's no business route access)

**Aeropuerto de Reynosa: branch (unsigned, at least in 2009; only listed in LRF, not GIS)
**Reynosa: gap (signed via Boulevard Morelos, one-way pair straddling the canal, but eastbound traffic is directed south on Calle Rio Mante, probably all the way to Boulevard Jose Maria Morelos; westbound traffic turns left off Morelos at Calle 11 and presumably right on Rio Mante, but then left on Avenida Praxedis Balboa, right on Jose de Escandon into Calle Josefina Menchaca back to the main highway; perhaps it's now on the bypass??)

**Piedras Negras: gap (signed via Boulevard Republica, but signs also point eastbound inside that bypass, meeting with and overlapping 57)

**Aeropuerto de Ciudad Acuña: branch (not sure if it's signed)
**Presa de la Amistad: branch (not sure if it's signed; GIS shows other branches near the dam)

**Heroica Caborca: gap (obvious route)
**Sonoyta: gap (obvious route)
**San Luis Rio Colorado: gap (obvious route)

**Mexicali: gap (poorly signed via Calzada Rodolfo Sanchez Taboada, Boulevard Adolfo Lopez Mateos, Boulevard Lazaro Cardenas)
**Progreso: gap (obvious route)
**Tecate: gap (signed via Avenida Miguel Hidalgo at 3, but other signs imply Avenida Benito Juarez, which appears to be the historic route)
**Tijuana: gap (signed inside the beltway; GIS shows it going right at this split (https://www.google.com/maps/@32.4465452,-116.8790307,3a,15y,287.03h,92.93t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sl5wPxBddEdogU6BJr-7qAQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) but LRF seems to show maintenance ending near the beltway; that split may be the best endpoint)

*3 El Chinero (5) - Tecate
**Ojos Negros: branch (unsigned, at least in 2009; only appears in LRF, not GIS or DV)
**Ensenada: gap (signed via straight route to ocean, then Boulevard Lazaro Cardenas)

**Francisco Zarco: gap (obvious route) and branch (unsigned)
**Rancho Viejo: loop (unsigned)
**Nueva Colonia Hindú: gap (obvious route)
**Aeropista Tecate: branch (unsigned)
**Tecate: gap (signed to Avenida Miguel Hidalgo)

*5 Mexicali - Laguna Chapala

**San Felipe: gap (obvious route)
**Puertecitos: loop (don't know if it's signed; only in LRF, not GIS or DV)
**Laguna Chapala: south end is in the middle of nowhere per LRF and GIS; DV takes it back to 1 along an unpaved road that is signed as a through route to San Felipe from 1; https://www.periodismonegro.mx/2019/12/17/febrero-al-100-carretera-san-felipe-laguna-chapala/ claims the new paved road is opening February 2020

*9 Cadereyta Jiménez (40) - Allende (85)
**Cadereyta Jiménez: GIS shows continuous maintenance around the east bypass; signage marks both bypasses as (to) 40 with NL 9 straight through the city - but south is also signed as NL 9; one correct sign (https://www.google.com/maps/@25.6004944,-99.9688937,3a,15.3y,128.35h,83.34t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sxkS3c1eNq2N_jziTotxJNQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) exists on 40 showing the east bypass as 9, and there's probably nothing through downtown
**Atongo de Abajo: loop (not signed; only shown on GIS, partly along a dirt track)
**Allende: gap (signed around the east bypass)

**Nuevo Casas Grandes: gap (signed via the eastern in-town bypass, though at least one sign (https://www.google.com/maps/@30.3965255,-107.8957861,3a,15y,304.31h,95.78t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sZIcnf50x0ZQJdgUCdSds2g!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) points along the southern bypass (which would then lead traffic through downtown - or to the disconnected network at Mata Ortiz??))
**Janos: gap (obvious route)

*12 Santa Cruz (76) - San Blas (74) (signed as 74 and 12 (https://www.google.com/maps/@21.5511833,-105.2524562,3a,26.8y,277.7h,83.06t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sa8M1N2n8w7RcIYIkFPbsQg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) and 76 (https://www.google.com/maps/@21.4312123,-105.1879691,3a,75y,359.83h,87.84t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s2DzbWthEW3pdAHj8ao8BSQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656); shown as 12 in GIS, and 15 in DV and LRF)

*14 Hermosillo (15) - Moctezuma

**San Lorenzo Acopilco: branch (signed as MEX (state) blank)
**Salazar: branch (signed as MEX (state) blank)
**Toluca: gap (signed southbound via Vialidad las Torres; northbound continues straight to the east end of the in-town bypass and then signage peters out); it probably makes the most sense to take it along the historic main route and make a separate file for Torres
**Zinacantepec: branch (unsigned)
**El Hospital: branch (signed as MEX (state) blank)
**Villa Victoria: branch (signed as MEX (state) blank on main 15 but at least one 15 sign (https://www.google.com/maps/@19.4256838,-99.9963753,3a,31.2y,30.51h,84.31t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sUkqQ2jbPPwnvyuZSGu4umw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) survived to 2012; locally maintained since 2006; endpoint was somewhere around here (https://www.google.com/maps/@19.440158,-99.9962455,3a,75y,349.96h,67.34t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sgp7x-iwFvAqgT8MszEZ8Yw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656))

**Nazas: gap (obvious route, but signs are missing at the turn, and note this sign (https://www.google.com/maps/@25.2276772,-104.1119422,3a,45y,173.49h,86.14t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sWGMEQULV3hY1f64Qa8dndw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656))

*35 Entronque Santa Rosa (23) - Entronque Rinconada (110): many signs mark this as 15; perhaps it's an old alignment)
**Atequiza: loop (signed at east end; not in any sources)
**Ocotlán: gap (obvious route)
**Jamay: gap (obvious route)
**La Barca: gap (obvious route, turning at the circle)
**Vista Hermosa de Negrete: gap (obvious route)
**La Sauceda: gap (obvious route)
**Entronque Rinconada: I can't find any signs beyond the junction with 110 (what most sources call 37)

*35 Montemorelos (85) - China
**Montemorelos: gap (doesn't seem to be signed anywhere from 85, though there is at least one sign for NL 35 (https://www.google.com/maps/@25.1891245,-99.8839196,3a,17.9y,20.4h,93.78t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sz7uhlyWQeyXKh3KC4MsUrg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) at the north end of the 85 bypass; southbound approaching town, signs point right across the railroad (straight on the bypass is signed for 85), and then through traffic is pointed right on Simon Bolivar, then right on Avenida Libertad around the north side of town (using Doceava as a cutoff?) to (old) 85; the east bypass (NL 116) was formerly signed for 35 (https://www.google.com/maps/@25.1568965,-99.8193098,3a,33.4y,11.41h,75.65t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sADZRYcsWv5MD_jBY3NFzSg!2e0!5s20120501T000000!7i13312!8i6656) on 85, but the signs have disappeared)
**General Terán: gap (obvious route on in-town bypass)
**La Unión-El Encadenado: branch (signed, at least at south end; only shown in DV, not GIS or LRF; given distance is probably ends just past the second crossing of Rio Pilon)
**China: gap (no signage downtown, but both ends of old 40 are signed for 35 from 40; truck bypass is signed via this turn (https://www.google.com/maps/@25.690462,-99.2349354,3a,19.3y,97.88h,87.83t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sE8rJBG5Kem5HvTj2cWvRxA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) to meet old 40 where this sign (https://www.google.com/maps/@25.7066712,-99.2361891,3a,75y,358.59h,75.11t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1snGJxUlUZleDvL-1Ao4HVzg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) used to stand; it's also worth pointing out this wicked old sign (https://www.google.com/maps/@25.705518,-99.2448807,3a,15.4y,152.39h,84.74t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1scWAWFFsDAQP987PvfIYdIw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) that appears to point traffic down Nicolas Bravo from old 40; the best course of action is probably to list old 40 as part of 40 and end 35 at the end of the truck route east of downtown)

*36 Entronque Los Herrera (23) - Topia (unsigned, at least in 2009)

*37 San Felipe (51) - Entronque Cerro Gordo (57)
**San Felipe: gap (signed from 51 on the northern in-town bypass)
**Villa de Reyes: gap (obvious route) and two bypasses (both signed)

*37 Ciudad Manuel Doblado - Playa Azul (Ciudad Manuel Doblado to La Piedad de Cabadas is 84 in DV)
**Ciudad Manuel Doblado: gap (signage essentially ends at the circle south of downtown, with most signs to the north being for GTO blank)
**La Piedad de Cabadas: gap (poorly signed via both main roads shown on OSM) and bypass (signed - not sure if the remainder of the bypass is signed as 110)
**Tlazazalca: gap (obvious route via in-town bypass)
**Purépero de Echáiz: gap (obvious route via in-town bypass)
**San Juan Carapan: gap (obvious route)
**Cherán: gap (obvious route on one-way pair)
**Paracho de Verduzco: gap (obvious route) and bypass (signed)
**Capacuaro: gap (obvious route)
**Uruapan: gap (signed via east bypass) and branch (unsigned; locally maintained since 1996)

**Lombardia: gap (obvious route)
**Nueva Italia de Ruiz: gap (obvious route)
**Arteaga: gap (obvious route)
**La Mira: gap (obvious route)
**Playa Azul: gap (probably best to end it where pavement changes (https://www.google.com/maps/@17.9846668,-102.3551667,3a,75y,207.49h,67.43t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1shhGRsaabLUq921I5_9qdJQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656)

**Villa Unión: gap (obvious route to 15)
**Concordia: gap (obvious route)
**La Ciudad: gap (obvious route)
**El Salto: gap (obvious route)
**Otinapa: branch (signed as 40 and blank; only shown in DV; not in LRF or GIS, so may be gone)
**Durango: gap (signed eastbound via Avenida Sahuatoba, Boulevard Armando del Castillo, Boulevard Estacion Central? (this part is poorly signed), Avenida Jesus Garcia? (south of the tracks), Boulevard Francisco Villa; westbound via Boulevard Francisco Villa, Boulevard Felipe Pescador, Boulevard Armando del Castillo, Avenida Sahuatoba; north bypass is signed as 40D; south bypass is not signed as 40, and is inventoried as 45 in all three sources; LRF shows a former branch? to Parque Guadiana)
**Aeropuerto de Durango: former branch (now part of 40D)
**Cinco de Mayo: gap (obvious route)
**Francisco I. Madero: gap (obvious route)
**Guadalupe Victoria: gap (obvious route)
**Cuencamé: gap and bypass (business route signed along the in-town bypass; although 49 is signed along both routes)
**Velardeña: branch (only listed in LRF; signed as 34 and DGO blank, but on km posts (https://www.google.com/maps/@25.0638727,-103.7381693,3a,34.8y,153.45h,87.76t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s1U4UgtcBhzctREkH0U9wtQ!2e0!7i16384!8i8192) as 40)
**León Guzmán: gap (obvious route)
**Ciudad Lerdo: southern bypass (unsigned)
**Ciudad Lerdo/Gómez Palacio/Torreón: bypass (all locally maintained?) and gap (business route is very poorly signed, disappearing through Ciudad Lerdo and signed poorly on Boulevard Miguel Alemán and Boulevard Revolucion)
**Villa Juárez: branch with gaps (completely unsigned on both routes, from Torreón and the connection to the circle, but it is signed on km posts (https://www.google.com/maps/@25.5068308,-103.5224338,3a,15y,272.07h,86.11t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sUIbk8AWx-zcnnuHEarm9nw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656))
**Gómez Palacio-La Unión: branch with gaps (signed, at least on one sign (https://www.google.com/maps/@25.5372751,-103.5016013,3a,75y,102.02h,81.48t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sYQKK9HimDUcB1j1xKrO8ag!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) and km posts (https://www.google.com/maps/@25.4422327,-103.4366303,3a,35y,169.08h,84.05t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sCXjyJgZcSkyJvOo-4gysCw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656))
***La Hermita: gap (obvious route)
***Nazareno: gap (obvious route)
***Picardias: gap (obvious route)
***La Unión: gap (federal maintenance apparently used to end here (https://www.google.com/maps/@25.2712326,-103.5083614,3a,75y,115.16h,77.22t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sNn-h5DjLFryXhrl7jH7S2A!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) but now ends somewhere north of there)
**Gómez Palacio-Tlahualilo de Zaragoza: branch (signed; LRF shows it continuing to 49 at Cartagena but this is signed as DGO blank and listed as such in DV)
***Gómez Palacio: gap (south end is unclear, but makes the most sense at the bypass)
***Francisco I. Madero: branch (unsigned except at east end (https://www.google.com/maps/@25.7649597,-103.278026,3a,15y,248.12h,95.12t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sf_VU73vfMRump6dO5ZkJwg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) (which appears to match km posts in DV)?; federal maintenance ends at state line)
***Jiménez: gap (obvious route)
***Tlahualilo de Zaragoza: gap (federal maintenance apparently ends here (https://www.google.com/maps/@26.1101267,-103.4274602,3a,37.6y,287.25h,89.16t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s9GLNPHnmvOC29d0YXTwSaQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656); km posts in DV end here (https://www.google.com/maps/@26.1118351,-103.4409409,3a,75y,281.12h,66.31t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sR5HD8xaX9Y8pCUyZxwpt9Q!2e0!7i13312!8i6656))
**Matamoros: gap (obvious route using in-town bypass, but business route is also signed westbound)
**Saltillo: gap (signed along in-town bypass on Periferico Luis Echeverria-Boulevard Vito Alessio Robles-Boulevard Nazario O. Garza; this last turn is not signed eastbound, but then after turning a sign points left on Boulevard Isidro Lopez Z. despite going straight being the apparent route; eastbound traffic is also pointed along Calzada Francisco I. Madero, but subsequent signs are for 54 instead; but what about this (https://www.google.com/maps/@25.5288097,-100.9519974,3a,48y,158.34h,97.51t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sbX9u-rKyPPMX0hsHj_Aneg!2e0!7i16384!8i8192) combined with the left turn on Isidro Lopez? or this? **Libramiento Norte de Monterrey: branch (signed; LRF calls it 38 but DV, GIS, and signs show 40; federal maintenance ends at 85 but a few signs point east along the east half of the bypass (910) and some point west from 40D in Juárez, but the turns in Apodaca aren't all signed)
**Monterrey: gap (signed along Boulevard Gustavo Diaz Ordaz (30), Boulevard Antonio L. Rodriguez (22), then eastbound on Avenida I. Morones Prieto (20) and westbound on Avenida Constitucion (22), then both ways on Avenida Benito Juárez (16); also signed westbound on Avenida San Jerónimo (28) and Boulevard Gustavo Diaz Ordaz (30) (as a truck route?))
**Cadereyta Jiménez: gap (signed on in-town bypass (which includes a toll!); at least one sign exists for the business route, at the eastbound split)
**China: gap (obvious route, but it appears all signs are for 35 rather than 40) and bypass (signed)
**General Bravo: gap (obvious route)
**Reynosa: gap (probably makes sense to end it downtown at 2); also western bypass (not sure how it's signed, but it goes to 2 with a branch to Anzalduas, the latter of which appears to be unsigned (https://youtu.be/hnwCXaOR1g0?t=157)); also southern bypass (locally maintained since 2007, but signed as 40 westbound and as 2 eastbound); also outer bypass (Viaducto Reynosa east to 97, since 2017; signed as 40 westbound (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mNxkXSwbbE), not sure about eastbound); there are signs for 90 (https://youtu.be/QK7lPlo4kRo?t=405) on the Anzalduas Bridge approach!

*41 Entronque Cuerámaro (90) - junction (37) (listed in DV and LRF as 84, but most signs are for 41; also note that 84 is signed on the continuation beyond 37, and GIS labels it as such, but all signs beyond that junction are for JAL 314)
**Cuerámaro: gap (signed via Calle Gonzalez Ortega and Calle Lerdo de Tejada)
**Manuel Doblado (37): branch

*41 Opopeo (120) - Tacámbaro de Codallos
**Tacámbaro de Codallos: gap (signage appears to end at the turnoff for downtown (https://www.google.com/maps/@19.2381092,-101.463203,3a,37.7y,121.89h,89.58t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s-Rr9sTx9pPoRP2RIfO2gkQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656))

*43 Morelia (14/15) - Salamanca
**Morelia: gap (signed from circle downtown, where 14 also begins)
**Cuto del Porvenir: loop (signed at north end; locally maintained since 1995)
**San Juan Tararameo: branch (unsigned; only in GIS, not DV or LRF)
**Cuitzeo del Porvenir: gap (obvious route)
**Moroleón/Uriangato: gap (signed at south end of bypass, and formerly at north end (https://www.google.com/maps/@20.1626773,-101.1591927,3a,75y,254.29h,79.1t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sKImPGOFOm1pZPiSG4asLMg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656); route shown on OSM is narrow and only signed with cities) and bypass (signed)
**Magdalena de Araceo: gap (obvious route)
**Valle de Santiago: gap (poorly signed via east bypass)
**Salamanca: gap (signed into Salamanca from the bypass (on at least one sign (https://www.google.com/maps/@20.5408394,-101.2063687,3a,75y,126.33h,85.58t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sIc49upGcfbWpLuCbT_2icw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656)), then signs for downtown and 45D point east on Calle León and north on Avenida Obregon; presumably the intent is for southbound traffic to go straight)

*44 Fresnillo (23) - Valparaíso
**Fresnillo: gap (no shields, but most logical endpoint is at the bypass (23))
**San José del Alamito: gap (obvious route)
**Valparaíso: gap (best endpoint is probably where the truck bypass splits)

*45 Entronque Portezuelo (85) - Ciudad Juárez
**Huichapan: loop (signed as HGO blank; very little is federally maintained)
**Entronque Pachuca-Querétaro: 57 overlap (poorly signed, if at all)
**Querétaro/El Pueblito: gap (signed on obvious route)
**Entronque Tejeda: branch? (state maintained; listed in LRF but without details)
**Apaseo el Alto: loop (all locally maintained since 1995; only signed at the exit at each end)
**Apaseo el Grande: branch? (all locally maintained since 1995; now signed as GTO 8 )
**Celaya: gap (signed via Avenue Constituyentes)
**Cortazar: branch (signed; locally maintained since 2004; maintenance ended just south of Rio Laja)
**Ciudad Militar Sarabia: branch (signed)
**Salamanca: bypass and gap (bypass is signed; the km posts use the through-city route (via Calle Morelos?), but this is all locally maintained and only signed at the ends; DV says the bypass is state maintained)
**Irapuato: bypass and gap (both signed, with bypass route overlapping 45D for a bit)
**El Copal: branch? (only listed in LRF)
**Silao: loop (only signed at the exit at the north end; locally maintained)
**León: gap (southbound traffic is directed (https://www.google.com/maps/@21.172991,-101.7356906,3a,19.1y,92.43h,112.75t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sbIjcJ6DBf4Rmm9bvxk4F7A!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) to use the new bypass, which DV says is state maintained, but GIS shows is partly federally maintained; northbound signage is missing; none of the older route is federally maintained)
**Lagos de Moreno: bypass (the only signed route of 45, even though km posts follow the through-city route, which is still maintained north of the circle with 80)
**Encarnación de Diaz: gap (signed along the in-town bypass)
**Aeropuerto de Aguascalientes: branch (signed)
**Libramiento Surponiente de Aguascalientes: branch (signed, though most northbound signs are for 70; state maintained since 2007; DV calls it A40; km posts (https://www.google.com/maps/@21.8172019,-102.3560852,3a,26y,338.74h,79.87t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sTaAhWkbznwMsuyk467F0dw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) say 45)
**Aguascalientes: gap (traffic is directed around the east side of Avenida Siglo XXI (signage northbound is tiny (https://www.google.com/maps/@21.8427795,-102.2903087,3a,26.3y,358.43h,111.04t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1shQuvVmJVBVYhWXoreIo51A!2e0!7i13312!8i6656)), but km posts appear to count from the historic intersection with 70 at Nieto/Juan de Montoro/Jose Maria Chavez/5 de Mayo; there is also signage on the historic route and along Avenida Heroe de Nacozari)
**Jesus Gomez Portugal: gap (obvious route)
**San Francisco de los Romo: loop with gap (signed; DV shows that the bypass is state maintained, but LRF and GIS disagree)
**Pabellón de Arteaga: branch (DV shows 4.64 km, which takes it east to 71, but it is signed only at the west end and maintained only at the east end)
**Rincón de Romos: loop with gap (signed)
**Cosio: gap (obvious route, but the exits are also signed as 45, though there is no obvious business route)
**Entronque Cosio-Entronque Cuauhtémoc: branch (signed as 45, 45D, AGS 76, and maybe other routes; according to GIS about half of it is ZAC 181, which then continues on the free route to Guadalupe)
**Luis Moya: gap (obvious route)
**Esteban San Castorena: gap (obvious route)
**Ojocaliente: gap (obvious route using in-town bypass)
**Trancoso: only follows bypass (old route given to city in 2003 and no longer signed)
**Guadalupe-Zacatecas: gap (well-signed to use both the obvious through route and the southern bypass; the latter is federally maintained between the two cities)
**Entronque Morelos-Entronque Noria de Gringos: old southbound lanes (not signed as anything)
**Aeropuerto de Zacatecas: branch (signed)
**Calera: gap (route through city is obviously not able to handle much traffic, so all 45 traffic is signed to use the 45D toll bypass; the only part that's federally maintained is at the north end, where there are several signs (https://www.google.com/maps/@22.9607533,-102.7120393,3a,75y,338.45h,84.28t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s1mQR3tOlhJXVG2xQMqwg2A!2e0!7i13312!8i6656); trucks are directed around the west bypass, as are cities libre, so that's probably the best option)
**Enrique Estrada: gap (obvious route, but southbound 45 traffic is directed to use the 45D toll bypass and there is no 45 signage north of the end of federal maintenance (https://www.google.com/maps/@22.9931699,-102.73815,3a,75y,319.41h,74.3t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sMLBJfYpD4Z2Y7Vee4MjmNA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656))
**General Félix U. Gómez: bypass and gap (only signed on the bypass at the south end; signed both ways (https://www.google.com/maps/@23.056832,-102.7777116,3a,37.8y,153.25h,105.47t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1siyu8eoJI7jiNlPLjCDweOw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) at the north end; federal maintenance is continuous on the bypass, but only the north end of the business route is maintained)
**Fresnillo: gap (obvious route on in-town bypass; LRF appears to also list some sort of bypass towards 44 west ("Libramiento rumbo a Valparaíso"))
**Rio Florida: gap (obvious route)
**Sain Alto: branch (given to city 2007; now signed as ZAC blank)
**Arenal: loop with gap (unsigned)
**Sombrerete: bypass and gap (both signed with obvious route at gap)
**San Martin: branch (unsigned)
**Vicente Guerrero: branch (locally maintained but signed both ways (!) from 45; was 0.9 km)
**Graceros/San Francisco Javier: branch with gaps (signed as DGO blank)
**Nombre de Dios: bypass and gap (both signed)
**Durango: gap (northbound is signed via the obvious route with a single right turn; southbound signage goes east on Avenida Jesus Garcia (south of the tracks), southwest on Boulevard Francisco Villa, and east on the main highway; what's with the bypass, partially inventoried as 45 in all three sources?)
**San Vincent de Chupaderos: loop (unsigned)
**El Morcillo/Presa Peña del Aguila: bypass (signed)
**Bruno Martinez: branch (signed; GIS shows the exact extent on OSM, but this is partly unpaved)
**Medina: branch (unsigned)
**Villa las Nieves: gap (obvious route)
**Villa Ocampo: branch (unsigned)
**Villa Matamoros: gap (obvious route)
**Hidalgo del Parral: gap (signed along the bypass, though at least one sign (https://www.google.com/maps/@26.9320489,-105.6370104,3a,40y,18.84h,96.91t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s7-PCVjarMVeok2cZeOGYLw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) shows it on the old route)
**Valle de Allende via Talamantes: branch (unsigned)
**Valle de Allende: branch (signed as CHIH 73)
**Estacion Morita: branch (unsigned)
**Pueblito de Allende: branch (unsigned)
**Saláices: branch (unsigned)
**Jiménez-Camargo: toll (signed as both 45 and 45D)
**Camargo: gap (obvious route); bypass (signed as 45 at north end and 45D at south end with CHIH 69; state maintained)
**La Cruz: gap (obvious route)
**Saucillo: gap (obvious route)
**Saucillo-Delicias: toll (signed as both 45 and 45D)
**Delicias/Meoqui: loop with gaps (appears to be completely unsigned, even where federally maintained, except southbound at the exit for the north end and on km posts (https://www.google.com/maps/@28.2599406,-105.4762755,3a,15.1y,13.56h,84.26t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1ss63OzvtJlf8lPqZ5Em2aKA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656))
**Chihuahua: gap (signed via Periferico V. Lombardo Toledano, Calle Palestina, Vialidad Sacramento, and Avenida los Nogales, but southbound traffic is also directed to continue past Avenida los Nogales and turn right on Avenida Homero to Periferico de la Juventud and Periferico Francisco R. Almada, and Avenida H. Colegio Militar is also signed as 45, cutting east on Yucatán to reach Vialidad Sacramento; finally, northbound traffic on Periferico de la Juventud is sent past Avenida Homero to the second intersection with Circuito Universitario; the most consistent route seems to be the first)
**Sacramento: loop (signed as 45; bypass is 45D)
**Nuevas Delicias: branch (unsigned)
**El Sueco-Ahumada: toll (signed as 45 and maybe also 45D)
**Ahumada: gap (obvious route)
**Samalayuca: loop and branch (only the branch from the middle of the bypass is signed)
**Ciudad Juárez: gap (2 is probably the most logical endpoint)

*48 Jerónimo (2) - Santa Teresa: pretty consistently signed as 48, with a few signs for CHIH 48 (its continuation south of 2); all sources show it as a branch of 2
**Anapra: branch (signed as CHIH blank; only in GIS, not DV or LRF)

*49 San Luis Potosí - Entronque Las Arcinas (45)
**San Luis Potosí: gap (signed inbound from the beltway; km posts appear to go across town to the 70/80 inner bypass, but none of this is signed, so perhaps the most logical end is the beltway, but it's signed (https://www.google.com/maps/@22.1987092,-101.0199471,3a,18.4y,147.73h,90.23t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sw0XYtvldEKsHPEqiVcgIkQ!2e0!7i16384!8i8192) beyond (https://www.google.com/maps/@22.1978866,-101.0187907,3a,33.5y,68.36h,119.26t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sCqN1iL9PM4UFgEVSJmf31g!2e0!7i16384!8i8192))
**Mexquitic de Carmona: bypass (signed)
**Salinas de Hidalgo: gap (obvious route) and branch (unsigned)
**General Pánfilo Natera: branch (signed at east end, at least in 2009; listed in DV and LRF)

*49 Entronque La Chicharrona (45) - Jiménez (45)
**Lázaro Cárdenas: gap (obvious route)
**Río Grande: loop with gap (signed on both the in-town bypass and through downtown (at north split, at least in 2009))
**Nieves: branch (signed as ZAC blank; listed as 114 in LRF)
**Juan Aldama: gap (obvious route) and branch (signed as ZAC blank)
**Miguel Auza: branch (signed as ZAC blank)
**Santa Clara: branch (signed as 40 and DGO blank)
**Cuencamé: gap (signed via both the inner bypass and the straight route) and bypass (signed)
**Cuencamé-Gómez Palacio: signed overlap with 40
**Gómez Palacio: gap (poorly signed via bypass)
**Bermejillo: gap (obvious route)
**Granja Morelos: gap (obvious route)
**Ceballos: gap (obvious route)
**Estacion Carrillo: branch (signed erroneously as 49D; only in GIS, not DV or LRF)
**Escalón: branch (unsigned)
**Jiménez: gap (obvious route)

*51 Entronque Huajúmbaro (15) - Zinapécuaro de Figueroa (120) (120 in GIS but 51 in DV and LRF and on most signs)
**La Estancia: branch (unsigned; only in GIS)
**Bocaneo/Zinapécuaro de Figueroa: gap (obvious route)

*51 Zitácuaro (15) - Iguala
**Zitácuaro: gap (obvious route)
**Benito Juárez: gap (obvious route)
**Entronque El Limón - junction (15): branch (state maintained but consistently signed as either 51 or MEXICO blank)
**Tiquicheo: gap (obvious route)
**Huetámo de Nuñez: gap and bypass (both routes are signed (https://youtu.be/flhZw7pvYOg?t=1617))
**Aeropuerto de Huetámo: branch (locally maintained, 5.4 km, unsigned)
**San Lucas: gap (obvious route)
**Ciudad Altamirano: gap (obvious route)
**Tanganhuato: branch (unsigned, though the other way to Chacamerito is signed as 51)
**Sinahua: branch (unsigned)
**Tlapehuala: gap (obvious route) and branch (unsigned)
**San Jose Poliutla: gap (obvious route) and branch (signed as blank)
**Arcelia: gap (obvious route) and branches (unsigned)
**Teloloapan: gap (obvious route) and branch (unsigned)
**Iguala: gap (I can't find signs for anything, except this ancient overhead (https://www.google.com/maps/@18.341014,-99.5304671,3a,17.1y,143.3h,99.17t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sVole76fRzXQyQcCci5c_Rg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656), so we probably have to end it at the circle west of town)

*51 Maravatío (126) - Ojuelos de Jalisco (80) (Maravatío-Acámbaro is 61 in all sources, but the majority of signs, and newer signs, say 51)
**Maravatío: gap (I can't find any shields in the city, so it should probably end at 15D, overlapping 126)
**Tziritzícuaro: branch (unsigned; locally maintained since 1995)
**Tarandacuao: loop (signed on newer signs as GTO blank, and on older signs at both ends as 61; the south leg is on Luis Donaldo Colosio)
**Agua Caliente: branch (signed as 43!)
**Acámbaro: gap (eastbound traffic is directed to turn left just past the railroad; if you make the first right you end up at Avenida 1 de Mayo, where you turn left and curve right to leave with 51; westbound presumably does the same except it doesn't make the two turns next to the railroad)
**Entronque Yuriria: branch (signed; 52 in LRF and GIS and 43 in DV, but signed as 51)
***Yuriria: gap (signed on obvious route and bypass)
**Celaya: gap (signed south from the in-town bypass of 45; to continue north isn't so well defined, but if you continue straight signs for San Miguel de Allende formerly pointed left on 20 de Noviembre and right on Insurgentes, but now the arrow at 20 de Noviembre points straight, then left on Avenida Irrigación; southbound traffic has no signs)
**Celaya-San Miguel de Allende: state maintained since 1999; mostly signed as GTO blank but some signs at other federal highways call it 51; there are also a few 51 shields on the route towards Guanajuato, which is also signed as GTO 51
**San Miguel de Allende: gap (signed on the western bypass and through downtown from the north end, but signage is very lacking when you get downtown; DV calls the bypass 57)
**Atotonilco: branch (signed; the south end may be here (https://www.google.com/maps/@21.0063006,-100.7960329,3a,75y,162.57h,84.69t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s-SJ-TQqPDCqAOnhN9x-UFA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656))
**Dolores Hidalgo: gap (fomerly signed to turn at Avenida Norte and Avenida Jimenez, but signs have disappeared; however, since nothing else is signed, this is still the route; the bypass may also be an option even though it's signed as GTO blank?)
**San Felipe: gap (obvious route)
**Ocampo: branch (signed as 51 and GTO 87-3)
**Ojuelos de Jalisco: gap (obvious route)

*53 Monterrey - Castaños (57) (DV also has Nueva Rosita-Boquillas del Carmen, but it's not in GIS or LRF and every sign I can find is for COAH 20)
**Monterrey: gap (signage appears to end at NL 1, not 85)
**Hidalgo: gap (obvious route)

*54 Colima - Ciudad Guzmán (110)
**Colima: gap (I can't find any signs past the end of federal maintenance at the beltway) and bypass (signed as 54 in both directions and 110 southbound)
**El Trapiche: loop (signed; locally maintained since 2003)
**Cuauhtémoc: gap (obvious route)
**Queseria: gap (obvious route)
**Queseria-Tonila: branch (unsigned)
**San Marcos: branch (unsigned)
**Atenquique: loop (unsigned)
**San Pedro (110): branch (signed)
**Cerca Lisa (110): branch (signed)
***Tuxpan: gap (obvious route)
**Ciudad Guzmán: GIS takes the route to the intersection with JAL 428, while LRF ends it at El Zapote, where it meets the 110 branch through Zapotitlic, and signage north of 110 has been changed to JAL 417

*54: Guadalajara - Ciudad Mier (2)
**Entronque Acatlán: signage south of 80 is now JAL 401, although the exit from 80 still has 54 shields, as do some other signs pointing along 80 towards the junction, possibly enough to have 54 overlap 80 and 15 into Guadalajara, but given the lack of signage in Guadalajara this may not be the best decision
**Guadalajara: gap (the best endpoint might be at Anillo Periferico Manuel Gomez Morin, since it's signed north from this beltway)
**Ixtlahuacán del Río: gap (obvious route) and branch (signed to use Calle Hidalgo)
**Moyahua de Estrada: gap (obvious route) and loop (unsigned)
**Juchipila: gap (obvious route)
**La Mezquitera: gap (obvious route)
**Apozol: gap (obvious route)
**Jalpa: gap (obvious route) and loop (signed) with gap (obvious route, though I don't know if the turns are signed)
**Huanusco: gap (obvious route)
**Tabasco: loop with gap (unsigned)
**Villanueva: gap (obvious route)
**Ruinas de Chicomostoc: branch (unsigned)
**La Escondida-Entronque Morelos: overlap with 45 is signed poorly if at all
**Morelos: branch (unsigned)
**Villa de Cos: branch (unsigned; shown in all sources)
**Concepción del Oro: branch (signed)
**Agua Nueva: gap (obvious route)
**Saltillo: gap (routed onto 40 the same as 57)
**Saltillo-Monterrey: overlap with 40 is signed poorly if at all
**Monterrey: gap (continues along Avenida Morones Prieto (20) to the exit for Avenida Churubusco (34/210), then turns east on Avenida Miguel Aleman (30); westbound 54 has a direct ramp to Boulevard Miguel de la Madrid (20) that even includes a 54 shield! (https://www.google.com/maps/@25.6945606,-100.2377089,3a,62.4y,228.17h,112.27t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1seRb526Ym-wOH7vs7BQjqrw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) but if you keep going on 30 it's still signed as 54 (https://www.google.com/maps/@25.6930379,-100.2433473,3a,18.1y,242.6h,91.24t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sBDVdsIw1cy8EJmZ9s333Kg!2e0!7i16384!8i8192))
**Aeropuerto de Monterrey: branch (signed)
**Doctor González: gap (obvious route) and bypass (signed)
**Cerralvo: gap (signed via bypass)
**General Treviño: gap (obvious route)
**Ciudad Mier: gap (signed at least to the 2 bypass; not sure if there's anything downtown)

*55 Entronque Axixintla (95) - Entronque Toluca (57/57D) (some signs north of Toluca call it 57, but most are for 55)
**Tonatico: gap (signed via bypass and business route, along with a signed branch south from the turn in the latter to downtown; northbound business route traffic has a choice between turning right on Velez or Avenida Mariano Matamoros, presumably back to the bypass on either; southbound traffic on Velez also has a signed connection east on Ignacio Allende to the bypass, even though it's partly unpaved)
**Ixtapan de la Sal: gap (obvious route through town; the bypass is mostly signed as MEXICO blank, but so is the business route)
**Villa Guerrero: loop (unsigned)
**Tenancingo: gap (obvious route)
**Tenango de Arista-Toluca: state maintained (signed as 55)
**Toluca: gap (signed south from Paseo Tollocan, and northbound traffic is directed to continue straight on Calle de Jose Maria Pino Suarez to Paseo Matlatzincas and Avenida H. Colegio Militar to Avenida Isidro Fabela; there are also northbound Atlacomulco signs on Calle Riva Palacio etc.; I can't determine what route if any is signed for southbound traffic)
**Toluca-Atlacomulco: state maintained (signed as 55, including the horribly-maintained free road, which goes just as OSM shows)
**Atlacomulco: gap (signed around east side of beltway, but also at least one southbound sign points straight through downtown)
**Acambay: gap (obvious route on in-town bypass) and bypass (signed)

*57 Entronque Jorobas (57D) - Tula (some older signs say 87, as do GIS and DV)
**Colonia Santa Teresa: gap (obvious route)
**Conejos: gap (obvious route)
**Progreso: gap (obvious route) and branch (unsigned; locally maintained since 2004)
**Tula: per GIS maintenance apparently ends at the no-access bypass overpass south of downtown, but there's no signage supporting that; the south half of the bypass (state maintained since 2000) is not signed
**Tepejí del Río-La Cañada: old road bypassed by 57D (mostly unsigned, though an older sign (https://www.google.com/maps/@19.9386889,-99.3393968,3a,23.3y,41.04h,93.49t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sVM7MZNAjT8PCfswQ8Lwl9Q!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) exists with 57 and a continuation of 87, and several other signs south of here label 57 or 87); locally maintained since 2000 (through Tepejí del Río) and 2004 (arc back to 57D)

*57 Entronque Toluca (55/57D) - Piedras Negras
**Entronque Toluca-Querétaro: toll maintained but free to drive; signs are for 57 and 57D
**San Juan del Río: loop (signed as MEXICO blank and GRO blank at north end and 57D at south end; otherwise unsigned; locally maintained - but GIS says it's partly federal)
**Pedro A. Escobedo: loop (unsigned)
**Aeropuerto de Querétaro: branch (unsigned; far from main 57)
**El Carmen-Cuesta China: loop (unsigned; on old alignment just to the north)
**Querétaro: gap (obvious route)
**Ciudad Militar 5 de Mayo: branch (where is this?)
**San José Iturbide: branch (signed as GTO blank - but at the circle near the end there are signs for 43! and 57 on km posts (https://www.google.com/maps/@20.9944451,-100.3883707,3a,18.9y,118.61h,85.81t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sLJjEsQ4cOY-FFVl3eixOcA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656); listed in all sources)
**San Miguel de Allende via Los Rodríguez: branch (signed as GTO 1)
**Tierra Nueva: branch (signed)
**Santa María del Río: branch (signed on northbound 57)
**Centro SCT: branch (where is this?)
**Aeropuerto Internacional Ponciano Arriaga: branch (unsigned)
**Ventura: loop (signed as SLP blank)
**Glorieta Juárez: branch (where is this?)
**Soledad de Graciano Sánchez: loop? (where is this?)
**Villa Hidalgo: loop with gap (signed)
**Matehuala: gap (signed via in-town bypass and via business route at both of its ends; several (https://www.google.com/maps/@23.6480913,-100.638607,3a,16.9y,64.29h,86.75t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1syQXT2OPtCP44saVwOt04FA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) signs (https://www.google.com/maps/@23.6489578,-100.6391647,3a,18.5y,318.15h,87.42t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sDX4HqHrnhx3Mj36U_-3-2w!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) exist downtown, serving northbound traffic, but I can't find any southbound)
**Huachichil-La Encantada: branch (signed as the main route; state maintained until 1999; overlap with 54 from La Encantada to Saltillo is poorly signed, but there is at least one sign (https://www.google.com/maps/@25.3938753,-101.0035254,3a,15y,134.71h,102.31t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sYayRrpqacgDtPcorANwWUg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) showing it)
**Huachichil-Entronque Bella Unión: converted to toll road, signed as 57D
**Saltillo: gap (signed from Bella Unión via Periferico LEA, Boulevard Nazario S. Ortiz Garza, V. Carranza (to bypass at Ojo Caliente)/Boulevard Vito Alessio Robles (to original route); traffic coming to La Encantada is directed along the east side of Periferico LEA to Boulevard Emilio Arizpe de la Maza, and northbound traffic is signed the same way, except for a missing sign at Boulevard Emilio Arizpe de la Maza; Libramiento Oscar F. Tapia is also signed as a route for southbound 57 traffic, but northbound it's signed only for 40)
**Ojo Caliente-Santa Cruz: branch (signed like the main route, but the 40 overlap from Ojo Caliente to Saltillo is poorly signed, if at all)
**Castaños: gap (obvious route; a business loop is partly signed as MEXICO blank)
**Monclova: gap (signed around western bypass (COAH 50) and in-town bypass, but not eastern bypass)
**Sabinas: gap (signed on in-town bypass, and on business loop from the north)
**Agujita: gap (obvious route)
**Nueva Rosita: gap (obvious route)
**Allende-Morelos-Nava: gaps (signed, though poorly in Allende and Nava) and bypass (signed)
**Nava: branches northeast of town (unsigned; shown only in GIS)
**Piedras Negras: gap (northbound signage ends at 2, but southbound traffic going straight from the bridge is pointed left on Avenida Roman Cepeda (2 is signed to the right) and right on Avenida Emilio Carranza - and then there's this (https://www.google.com/maps/@28.6806963,-100.5455985,3a,26.6y,16.33h,99.37t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sUBGlftNp4frU7VqsFxfQYA!2e0!7i16384!8i8192) inbound, pointing 57 to the new bridge (which isn't US 57!); otherwise northbound traffic to the original bridge is (or was in 2009) signed via Avenida Allende to Calle Hidalgo, then left to the bridge)

*58 Linares (85) - Entronque San Roberto (57)
**Linares: gap (signed west from 85's bypass)

*62 Matehuala (57) - Entronque San Tiburcio (54)
**Ojo de Agua: branch (signed as 57! at least in 2008, which sort of makes sense because it leads towards 57, just like 62 east of the spur is signed for 57 (https://www.google.com/maps/@23.7184076,-100.6508071,3a,15y,42.49h,85.79t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s1O5oMKaBGimqdeJxixxM8A!2e0!7i13312!8i6656); south end per km posts is at the circle)
**Cedral: gap (obvious route on in-town bypass)
**Estación Vanegas: branch (signed as MEXICO blank, at least in 2008)
**San Tiburcio: branch (unsigned, at least in 2008)

*63 Entronque Ahualulco (49) - Entronque La Bonita (57)
**Ahualulco: gap (obvious route, but not signed through downtown and southbound has to avoid one-way streets) and bypass (signed)
**Moctezuma: gap (obvious route on bypass; business route is also signed at north end but nowhere else)
**Estación Moctezuma: branch (signed to the tracks)
**Venado: gap (obvious route, but a bypass is also signed by turning left here (https://www.google.com/maps/@22.9271732,-101.0960964,3a,75y,13.74h,90.9t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1siUBuCIQ1__jIER1nERk-UA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) - the bypass is signed as both 49 (as that's where 63 leads) and SLP blank at the north end)
**Charcas: gap (signed through downtown and on the in-town bypass; the southern bypass towards Santo Domingo also has at least one 63 shield, but is SLP blank at the other end and appears in no sources)
**Estación Charcos: branch (signed)
**Villa de Guadalupe: gap (obvious route)

GIS shows a 65 north from Xalapa, but it seems to be signed only as VER blank, and it's not in LRF (DV shows it as VER 65).

*69 Jalpan de Serra (120) - Ríoverde (70)
**San Ciro de Acosta: gap (obvious route on in-town bypass)
**Ríoverde: gap (obvious route)

Title: Re: Mexico

*70 Ciudad Victoria (85) - Soto la Marina (180)
**Ciudad Victoria: gap (signs begin at the 85 in-town bypass)

*70 Tampico - Jalpa (54)
**Tampico: gap (federal maintenance ended at intersection with Avenida Morelos until 2003; westbound is signed from Avenida Miguel Hidalgo (and, at least in 2009, there's an eastbound sign there facing what's now wrong-way traffic)
**Tamos: gap (obvious route)
**San Antonio Rayón: branch (signed as SLP blank (at the south end) and 70 (along the route (https://www.google.com/maps/@22.2561776,-98.3705317,3a,32.2y,224.28h,82.45t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s2Zj3WbFYa10AnKAPloO-Uw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656)); LRF says it is a federally maintained state highway; the north end appears to be at the end of the Río Tamesí bridge)
**Tamuín: gap (obvious route)
**Ciudad Valles: bypass and gap (both routes signed; business route used the alignment overlapping 85, but brand new signs (https://www.google.com/maps/@21.9973299,-99.0109433,3a,15.4y,30.88h,92.39t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sCQSbIZ4aWeLHjr0dbBvVpw!2e0!7i16384!8i8192) point it straight across, so I guess that's how it goes despite no signage at the east split)
**Agua Buena: branch with gap through Tamasopo (signed; no signage through Tamasopo, but trucks are directed on the Avenida Ferrocarril bypass)
**Canoas: branch (signed)
**Nogales: branch (signed)
**Cárdenas: branch with gap (signed? NOTE that 70 overlaps 70D west of this junction, which is not what OSM or the Goog shows - is the dead-end old alignment still part of 70?)
**Rayón: branch (from east end of old alignment; mostly locally maintained; signed as Mexico blank (at least in 2009))
**Rioverde/Ciudad Fernández: gap (obvious route)
**San Luis Potosí: gap (west end of 70 signage is on the east side, where it meets 57 and 80; 80 is signed along the southern inner bypass, although signage seems to be missing eastbound)
**San Luis Potosí-Ojuelos de Jalisco: 80 overlap (poorly signed, if at all, but shown in DV)
**Ojuelos de Jalisco: gap (signed on Calle Miguel Hidalgo from westbound 80; locally maintained toll bypass is signed as 70D westbound only)
**Norias de Paso Hondo: loop (signed)
**Asturias: branch (unsigned; this was probably the old alignment looping south of 70)
**Aguascalientes: gap (signed along Avenida Lopez Mateos, but km posts appear to count from the historic intersection with 45 at Nieto/Juan de Montoro/Jose Maria Chavez/5 de Mayo)
**km 25: branch (unsigned; is this the old alignment?)
**Milpillas: loop (signed; note that the actual branch to Milpillas is AGS 96)
**Centro de Transferencia: loop (unsigned)
**km 42: branch (unsigned; is this the old alignment?)
**Malpaso: branch (not all maintained, but is signed; GIS says it ends at Calle Laurel but other sources say only 3.1 km, which takes it to the obvious change in quality at Calle Linda Vista)
**Ojocaliente: gap (obvious route)
**Calvillo: gap (km posts follow the locally-maintained bypass; both routes are signed as 70)
**La Rinconada: bypass (signed as 70; can't determine if the old route is also still signed as 70)
**La Higuera: gap (obvious route)
**Santa Juana: gap (obvious route)
**Los Santiagos: gap (obvious route)
**Jalpa: gap (not sure if signage ends at the 54 bypass or business route)
**Tlaltenango de Sánchez Román: proposed extension

*70 Entronque Ameca (15) - Mascota
**at least one sign (https://www.google.com/maps/@20.7334965,-103.6016208,3a,15y,278.78h,85.46t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s9B82J6clUah14o6wT8OOGA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) calls it 90, probably the old number
**Ameca: gap (obvious route)
**Mascota: maintenance and signage appears to end here (https://www.google.com/maps/@20.5231818,-104.7794234,3a,75y,320.52h,74.26t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sqn3GgGAbrLThalTxEHkDUg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656)

*71 La Barca (35) - Atotonilco el Alto (90)
**La Barca: gap (obvious route, but doesn't seem to be signed; maintenance apparently ends at Sabino)

*71 Tepatitlán (80) - Yahualica de González Gallo (formerly a branch of 80, and still listed as such in LRF)
**Tepatitlán: gap (obvious route, signed from 80 (https://www.google.com/maps/@20.7803526,-102.7882839,3a,38.1y,67.56h,100.53t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sdZN77iZGOgLV5Xd_r1zWIw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656))
**Yahualica de González Gallo: gap (obvious route, with at least one km post (https://www.google.com/maps/@21.1792512,-102.8906999,3a,33.4y,319.8h,80.11t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sT2Ph55y28HLcn9pVo4l5Tw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) on the locally maintained portion, but the end isn't obvious, so it probably makes the most sense to end it where maintenance ends (https://www.google.com/maps/@21.1629143,-102.8867114,3a,75y,90.33h,68t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sqhNeRzYMcJXN-iYddT4l-Q!2e0!7i13312!8i6656))

*71 Villa Hidalgo - Entronque Penitencaría (70)
**Villa Hidalgo: gap (per km posts, it seems to have ended at Morelos, but a quick look doesn't turn up any signage past the end of maintenance where the median begins; part of JAL 205 beyond is federally maintained?)

*71 Providencia (45) - Luis Moya (45)
**El Chayote: branch (only shown in GIS, and isn't signed or maintained to any sort of standard)
**Coecillo: gap (obvious route)

*72 Entronque Santiago Ixcuintla (15) - Boca de Camichin: branch (signed mostly as blank, but at least one sign (https://www.google.com/maps/@21.8556625,-105.1546964,3a,30.1y,187.76h,109.66t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sjCWg1seMwYwiUcvBiIbrpg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) calls it 72; listed as a branch of 15 in DV)
**Santiago Ixcuintla: gap (obvious route)
**Los Corchos: gap (obvious route)

*74 Crucero de San Blas (15) - San Blas (mostly signed as blank or 15, but some newer signs exist for 74; listed as 15 in DV)
**Ejida 5 de Mayo: gap (obvious route)
**San Blas: gap (signed straight into downtown (https://www.google.com/maps/@21.5442527,-105.2741397,3a,75y,279.9h,123.23t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sP6c4RKI2PDwMocbn1LOtwQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656))

*76 Tepic (15) - Santa Cruz de Miramar (listed as 15 in DV)
**Tepic: gap (signed from 15)
**Mecatán: branch (signed as 10! (https://www.google.com/maps/@21.499774,-105.0825978,3a,75y,204.76h,99.9t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s0hfdb58pE563ulY1JBjxXg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) GIS shows no number, and maintenance continuing past Mecatán; DV and LRF have it as a branch of 15)

**Linares: gap (only signed via the bypass, even though GIS shows the business route is federally maintained south of NL 112/NL 113
**Montmorelos: loop (not signed at all on mainline 85, but there is signage in town)

**Pénjamo: loop (signed at both ends; locally maintained since 1999; none of the westbound turns are signed)

**Jaumave: loop (unsigned, at least in 2009)
**Ciudad Victoria: gap (at least in 2009, signed northbound via bypass, but southbound into town, where if you turn right at 85 you see reassurance (https://www.google.com/maps/@23.7413101,-99.1325162,3a,15y,365.21h,86.3t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sKXhY0yVUjai19cLEtUAEtg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656), then continue straight on Boulevard A. Lopez Mateos - given this, I think the northbound route should do the same by going straight on the bypass where it splits, except it then uses Boulevard Rotario; this intersection (https://www.google.com/maps/@23.7295349,-99.1453336,3a,75y,95.83h,89.91t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1snib93ailOrPpPKHb9f1Nkg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) may be part of a former through-town route)

**Francisco Villa: bypass (signed)
**San Germán: bypass (signed)
**Aeropuerto de Matamoros: branch (signed, at least in 2009)
**Matamoros: gap (traffic from the I-69E bridge is directed straight onto 2 and around to the obvious exit, but northbound signs point to the bridge via Libramiento Emilio Portes Gil - but this is from 2009, before an interchange was built, so who knows what's signed now, and it might be best to end it at 2 anyway)

**Tamazunchale: gap (obvious route)

*110 Cañada de Moreno - Los Infantes (45)
**San Luis de la Paz: gap (at its west end, the bypass and business route are both signed as 110, but there is no obvious route through downtown; as for the bypass, there is nothing telling you what to do when you hit the old bypass, but if you turn right it's signed as HGO blank at the next major junction, and at the east end the bypass is also GTO blank; continuation east to Cañada de Moreno (a 'branch' in LRF) is also GTO blank at this end, but is signed as 110 at Cañada de Moreno)
**Dolores Hidalgo: gap (fomerly signed to turn at Avenida Norte and Avenida Jimenez, but signs have disappeared; however, since nothing else is signed, this is still the route; the bypass may also be an option even though it's signed as GTO blank?; former branch to train station is unsigned)
**Guanajuato: gap (obvious route)
**Silao: branch (signed; federal maintenance ends at the cloverleaf with GTO 110D, but some signs point 110 along the frontage roads and then across 45 into Silao, but I can find nothing past there, so end it at 45?)

I've renamed the thread since you've opened another one for Select Freeways.

btw: I think it would be better to peer-review a preview system first instead of trying to develop a new system now.

Some experienced users volunteer to help the project. If this interests you, start by reporting problems with existing highway data. Those who have learned the project's structure and highway data rules and guidelines can help greatly by providing review of new highway systems in development. Highly experienced users can learn how to plot new highway systems under the guidance of experienced contributors. Again, see the project forum for more information.

Yeah, under the circumstances I'd say the ship has sailed. Carry on.

The thing is it seems most people prefer to spend their time drafting systems over peer reviewing them. The result is we have a backlog of preview systems that aren't getting activated since they haven't been reviewed. This one is going to join that queue once it's done...

We indicate on the main site that "Highly experienced users can learn how to plot new highway systems". I think that you maximum "have learned the project's structure and highway data rules and guidelines" and "can help greatly by providing review of new highway systems in development".

Your time spent on the new system is not lost since you have documented a lot on the forum and you can also start drafting the files after your first review(s). I've minimum reviewed 2 or 3 large systems before drafting my first system.

Because I have nowhere better to put it, here are some designations in Mexico City that seem to be newer than the ejes and appear on only a few signs:

Title: Re: mexf: Mexico federal routes
Post by: neroute2 on February 18, 2020, 01:57:32 pm
I've started drafting the system (http://travelmapping.net/hb/index.php?sys=mexf).

Mexico has some important differences from other places I'm familiar with.

Routes are not officially defined through many cities and towns. Sometimes signage makes the route obvious, but often it muddles things. Splitting the route at every such town or city is a nonstarter for two major reasons: (a) it would be horribly messy to have twenty different segments of a route that need to be entered individually, especially when most connections don't even need signage due to a lack of turns, and (b) sources wildly disagree on what is or is not federally maintained, and there is usually no indication when driving that the owner changes.

For these reasons, I am not splitting routes at maintenance gaps through cities. So how do we define the route? If there are multiple possibilities, I'm going down the following list and choosing the first that applies.
Any other signed route may be added as an alternate.

I am also using street names instead of route numbers at junctions in cities where it is not completely obvious that that the route number goes that way and only that way. This avoids issues where a traveler may have taken 47 into town to the junction with what is signed as 52, but through traffic on 52 is routed differently.

Spurs are inconsistently signed and inventoried. A road splitting from 47 may be listed in one source as 47, but omitted entirely from another. Signs may have 47 shields, blank shields, or no shields at all. 47 shields may point down roads that are not in any non-signage sources I could find, or may even be a general statement that the named town is going to be on the side of the road up ahead.

I need to come up with criteria for which spurs to include.

Street names are nonexistent in rural areas and usually badly signed in towns and cities. Sources often disagree on names. So instead of street names for rural point labels, I use place names, either the place the point is in or the place the road leads to. This is also how I name junctions with potential spurs, at least until I decide whether the spur is real.

Truncated, nearby town name - for a town immediately served by the unnamed cross road.

You could also go with this rule if the name is "visible" on a map: http://travelmapping.net/devel/manual/wayptlabels.php#desired_named

Truncated, visible cross road name.

The ñ appears to be a (unicode, UTF-whatever, etc.) multi-byte character. The database barfs on it, and so does the HB (http://travelmapping.net/hb/?r=mex057can).
Since Region + " " + Route + Banner + Abbrev concatenated together = our .list name, we need to stick with standard Latin characters all users can easily type into a .list.

Yes. I was mostly referring to how the HB in the initial link looked as mangled as it did due to my error in producing said link.

I think that the tier should be changed from 2 to 3 or 4*.
mexsf and mexed should be tier 2. Freeways and expressways are higher categories.

* Does the international naca system also cover Mexico? If so, mexf should be tier 4, and the state route systems tier 5. If not, tier 3 is fine.

I numbered it the same as usaus.

It does not.

I think these are categorized correctly.

I agree with keeping it as-is.  Not every country needs to follow the Euro model.

Mexico Federal == US Routes.
It's the expressways (Mexico D) that equal tier 1.  State routes are lower tier (4) - and should be whether freeway or not.

yep, that's why I think they should be tier 2. That USA + CAN don't have such a expressway system doesn't mean that other countries don't have it.

No - disagree - Mexico D is freeway (Tolled) and are equivalent to a motorway in Europe or Interstate/ON 400/QC Autoroute in USA/CAN in the scheme.  Mexico is behind USA and CAN like much of Eastern Europe is behind its western counterparts.

North America != Europe.
