ID: US 95 Athol bypass/ realignment
« on: February 09, 2017, 12:29:59 am »
I just noticed that US 95 has been realigned in Athol, ID onto a new bypass around town and the waypoint along US 95 for ID54 (as well as the corresponding one on ID 54 for US 95) needs to be moved a bit east to the new interchange between US 95 and ID 54. According to OSM, that exit is numbered 449.

Also, there is a waypoint just south of that one for SonShiWay, but it looks like that intersection is no longer there. I would suggest moving that waypoint a bit south to the exit for Silverwood Theme Park, which is numbered 446, according to OSM.

EDIT: You may also want to add a point for Exit 442.

Exit numbers check out in GMSV!

Not much of a "bypass", very short with only one exit. The realignment is just 0.13 mile or less to the east, perhaps only to allow construction of the new interchange outside of the old right of way.

This doesn't affect whether the US 95 or ID 54 route files need to be changed, or the changes mentioned in the Updates table. But I'm not sure I'm going to treat this realignment as a de-clinch of that part of US 95, which I've counted as clinched between the Mexican and Canadian borders.

So you're just missing the portion of 95 between the Canadian border and Golden then?

No, just (now) the Athol bypass, assuming I don't end up treating it like a non-de-clinching bridge replacement.

For BC 95, I'm missing the segment between Golden and the northern junction with BC 93.

No, I don't think so.

Idaho is one of Si's states. I'm considering just fixing this myself just to help him out, because Si maintains a bajillion different regions around the world. At this point, I'm not totally sure if I'd be willing to take over maintenance of Idaho from him, but since he is listed as the maintainer of it, I don't think it's totally cool to go in and just change things in other peoples' states/regions without their permission. So, I'd be happy to at least make this one change with his permission, of course.

go for it.

I thought I had already ceded maintenance of ID, but clearly not. My aim is to shed continental US states where possible as there's a pool of people who could pick them up who are better placed to make changes than I, and I have enough on my plate already with much of the rest of the world.

Just did a pull request for this as well as other items in Idaho that looked like they needed updating: https://github.com/TravelMapping/HighwayData/pull/1181

I think I'd be willing to take over maintenance for Idaho from you, Si. There aren't too many NMPs that need fixing... :P
