WI: WI145 Waypoint Tweak
« on: June 23, 2017, 12:28:08 am »
Due to a rerouting on Old Orchard Rd, WI145 no longer shares a concurrency with WI100, there now only exists an intersection. Heading north on WI145, from Boundary Rd it now turns west then northwest on Old Orchard Rd, intersecting WI100, and continuing northwest on the already current WI145.

OK. The point has been moved; old spots are now 124thSt.

Took a look to see if this topic could be marked as solved.
The issue in the OP as been resolved, however...

WI100 would be better served by I-41(##) labels along the concurrency. WI145_N2 could then become straight-up WI145.
WI145: US41/45_S & US41/45_N -> I-41(##) similarly.
I-41 itself, being an all exit-numbered route, should have ###(94) and ##(894) style labels.

The WI 100 and WI 145 point lists were based on when it was US 41 instead of I-41. I didn't want to add labels for the sake of adding labels (also chasing down exit #s), and doing a US41->I-41 change plus hidden point for every route that intersects US 41 between Milwaukee and Green Bay. The only one I did this for was US 45 because of its intertwining nature.

I think the sum of your changes for WI 100 itself would be US45_S->I-41(46), US41/175->I-41(47A), WI145_S1->I-41(47B), WI145_N1->I-41(48), US41/74->I-41(50), and WI145_N2->WI145. All but two of those points are in use.

There's an additional wrinkle in the WI 145 list: The points are on the mainline but not purely corresponding to the exit locations. US41/45_N is in the middle of an exit for both NB and SB 145 to NB and SB 41. It's signed on I-41 as exit 48. But the long offramp from SB 41 to SB 145, which joins mainline 145 closer to Good Hope Road, is signed from 41 as exit 48 too. On the list for I-41, I've called the equivalent point 48A to differentiate, because it also is meant for the onramp from NB 145 to NB 41. So US41/45_S->I-41(48A) and US41/45_N->I-41(48), but both those old labels are in use.

As for the label style on the I-41 list, that's a direct C&P from US 41, in an attempt to simplify it for everyone (and, admittedly, myself). FWIW, there are two points on the I-894 segment and three on the I-94 segment in use as I-41 line entries right now.

In sum, because of the unique nature of the creation of I-41, I left most existing structures alone because I did not think the expense in time was worth the benefit. If there's a demand that every point absolutely must be relabeled to conform to interstate standards, I'll do it but it's not going to be instantaneous, and it will result in the creation of dozens of hidden-point labels.

I hate to revive a solved topic from 4 years ago, but it appears as though WI145 was either erroneously signed in 2017 or was never signed along Old Orchard Rd at all, because as of 2021 WI100 and WI145 still share the concurrency they did before the construction. Heading south, WI145 turns left onto Brown Deer Rd (WI100) and heads east for half a mile before turning right onto Boundary Rd south.

WI 100 needs to be edited at 124thSt to show the WI 100/WI 145 concurrency.

Even though the WI 100 concurrency is fixed (at least map-wise), I have other comments on WI 145 that I will cover in a new thread.
