CT US44
« on: October 09, 2018, 09:43:59 pm »
The point IDs on US44 in downtown Hartford (specifically along I-84) don't match with US6 or I-84.

To note: US44 ChaSt = I-84 "50" = US6 I-84(50)
US44 I-84(50) = I-84 "51" = US6 I-84(51)

Is this because of the location of the westbound Main St (US44) exit?

So did I drive US44 and can't claim I-84 since I exited eastbound at Main St. (and then re-entered at "Exit 50 westbound" Columbus Blvd.)?

What a mess.

Not quite -- more of a ~= maybe?
I-84 & US6 have this point centered on Trumbull St, since that's where the half-diamond ramps connect.
US44 is centered on Main St , as it's already left I-84 back east, and turns here after traveling west on the frontage road.

US44 I-84(50) = I-84 "51" = US6 I-84(51)

Yes.

Not sure I'm parsing this correctly...
I take this to mean driving US44, eastbound, then leaving via Main St, I.E. the ChaSt waypoint.
Crossing over I-84, but not entering it yet.

(and then re-entered at "Exit 50 westbound" Columbus Blvd.)?
Here's where I get lost a bit... OK, re-entering (I-84 / US6) at the eastbound counterpart to "Exit 50 westbound", the EB onramp that connects from Columbus.
IIUC, you did not leave US44 at all here; rather, you traveled CT US44 TruSt ChaSt, then turned left onto South Morgan, and traveled CT US44 ChaSt I-84(50), then continued on US44, entering an I-84/US6/US44 multiplex.

You won't be able to claim I-84 west of exit 51, as US44 is on the frontage roads (and ramps) and not I-84 itself. East of exit 51, you'll be credited for all three routes if any one of them is entered into your .list file.

To visualize this, go to http://yakra.teresco.org/tmtools_demos/tmg2html/CT-region.tmg.html
Search for the text I-84@51&US6@I-84(51)&I-91@32A&US44@I-84(50) and then click on that line in the table, then hit the + key 5 or 6 times to zoom in.
The I-84/91 interchange will be highlighted in red i the center of the graph. East of there, the magenta line carries three routes: US44,I-84,US6. West of there, we see a green line (two routes, I-84,US6) overlaid atop a blue line (one route, US44).
Use the mouse wheel to zoom in far enough near the US44@ChaSt point, and you'll see the lines start to diverge. The green line represents I-84 & US6 on the freeway mainline, while the blue line represents US44 via the center "median" between the two frontage roads.

It's also worth noting that while there is no auto-detected concurrency for I-84 and US 44 between exits 50 and 51, since the two routes are not technically concurrent there, there is nothing stopping you from manually crediting yourself for both if you only drove one. If you think you should get credit for the route on the freeway because you drove the route on the frontage roads or vice versa.
