Title: NY: I-86Bin vs. I-86FutBin / usai vs. usaif
Post by: yakra on January 06, 2017, 02:20:12 pm
Bleah. Bloody Future Interstates.
Some discussion on AARoads (http://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=16863.msg2196735#msg2196735) is making me wonder whether we need to move a little more mileage off of I-86FutBin and onto I-86Bin proper.

Other than signage, what else is there to the threshold for making the distinction between a Future Interstate and a full-fledged Interstate? FHWA recognition? AASHTO?
I *could* look thru the (TM and old CHM) forums to see what's been said about this, but can't be arsed right now; I'm hoping someone has some useful info more handy in their memory banks. I know some of you have dealt with this more than I have...

I think in the past FHWA recognition has been used.

Almost five years later. Does anyone have useful info?

I'll nix this thread for housekeeping purposes, continue to stay abreast of the topic on AARoads, and make changes as/when appropriate.
