I'd be for adding bridges crossing a river, provided that the bridge is of at least a certain length (e.g. 500 feet long) and/or crosses a river of a significant length.

This type of thing should be kept separate from the main TravelMapping site, as with ferry routes, bike routes, rail systems, etc.
If it gets off the ground, use a different subdomain...
Agreed.  I could be interested in this, but would not want to see it on the same maps/stats pages as the roads.

In addition to rivers, would having systems for bridge authorities (such as the ones maintained by the MTA or the Port Authority) be something to do?

I could see the map being displayed by points too, though there are strange cases like the Triboro that I'm curious how they would be handled.
