I was wondering what do you do when you travel a route - typically state or provincial routes - up to a junction which is not a node in the website. Do you prefer logging the route up to the next node or to the previous one?

I use whichever one is closer. If it's a road I intend to travel again, I make a note to myself with the details.
-
I'm a bit more likely to use the previous one, and not falsely claim any mileage. Unless the distance lost would be too great, and the next node is much closer.
-
If the location where I‘ve entered is - let‘s say more than 1km - from the next waypoint in TM HB, I would request a new waypoint onthe Forum. But I‘m a contributor and can directly add the Point :)

^ Even under CHM, adding points to denote personal travels was a perk that Tim allowed to the contributors.

I generally use the previous one. The exception is if I can "site clinch" up to the next node.
