OR/WA 35, WA 433
« on: May 22, 2018, 03:50:48 pm »
Just got a response from WSDOT SW Region about WA 35 and 433:

Good afternoon Mr. Steig,

I am in the Southwest region of the Washington State Department of Transportation, and can follow up to your two questions below about SR 433 and the Hood River Bridge. While our SR 433 maintenance responsibility, with cost-sharing from ODOT,  ends at the edge of the bridge before crossing onto land in Oregon, the route designated SR 433 ends in the center of the bridge at the state line. You can confirm this via the RCW here.
The response is different for the Hood River Bridge, per this RCW here. Oregon Route 35 continues across the hood river bridge, and switches to State Route 35 at the border in the center of the bridge, which continues until it intersects with highway 14. You can find some additional information and references to SR 35/the Hood River Bridge on the Regional Transportation Council website here.
Please let me know if you have more questions.
Thank you,

Meghan Hodges
Executive Assistant to
Kris Strickler, SW Regional Administrator

WA 433 is correct in the browser, and as of at least 1991, doesn't extend into Oregon (anymore). Nothing needs be done here, though I'll bug ODOT/OTC about an OR 433 designation at some point if we don't add a Lewis and Clark Bridge route for the Oregon set.

OR/WA 35: Depending on signage, I suppose, OR 35 will need to be extended north from I-84/US 30 to the border, and a WA 35 created from there to WA 14, and the Hood River Bridge point should be relabeled WA 35.

I didn't realize OR 35 actually continued to the Hood River Bridge. I thought it stopped at I-84. Now, I'm going to have to figure out if it is actually signed as WA 35 on the Washington side of the bridge.

EDIT: It is not signed on the WA side, so in accordance with TM guidelines, I will not be adding it.

Update for OR 35 along the Hood River Bridge to the border will be included in my next update.

No action needed for WA 35 or 433.
