Title: RI: US1 Alt (Providence)
Post by: SSOWorld on May 04, 2019, 10:13:30 pm
This is now entirely RI Route 1A.  Surface street signs have been switched (or left off?) and the only evidence of US 1A is on the freeway BGSs of I-95 NB Exit 18.

Looks like they might be rather old... candidates for replacement?
Otherwise, it's as you describe, consistently (or, *cough*, poorly) signed as RI1A throughout the state. I don't believe this was AASHTO-approved, and this brings it into line with state route 1A on the Massachusetts side, and with the state route 1A designation in the RIDOTrds16 shapefiles.

RIDOT isn't the best signer - but certainly it is not as bad as MassDOT 🤮 (if US6 is to be the evidence - see it's end on Cape Cod).
