Title: WA: Two items
Post by: SSOWorld on July 25, 2019, 10:08:28 pm
WA WA519 - is closed and (please verify) rerouted onto the cut-over to Alaskan Way S from 1st St via S Dearborn St due to the tunnel vent building and the crumbling viaduct.
WA HurRidRd does not begin until Race St - currently it follows Race Street to Park Rd.

Is WA519 signed? I don't recall seeing any mention of the route when I was over there last month, only trailblazers for WA99, and poking around Street View just now seems to indicate the same.

WA 519 has never been well signed. Its signage has disappeared over the years due to construction in that area. The last sign that I knew of was on the viaduct on the exit for South Atlantic Street. It may well no longer be signed.
On paper, it is still officially routed along South Atlantic and Brougham Way as a pair to Alaskan Way and up Alaskan Way to Yesler. The routing along 1st Avenue and Railroad Way was published as a construction detour, not as a rerouting. Eventually, Atlantic and South Brougham will be connected to the new Alaskan Way and the on paper routing will be usable again. Whether signage for WA 519 returns is an open question.

Hurricane Ridge Road does begin at Mount Angeles Road (way point MTAngRd). Race Street ends and Mount Angeles Road starts at Park Avenue (way point ParkAve). It looks like whoever created the mapping included the section of Mount Angeles Road to include a waypoint for the Visitor Center.

519 was not signed as of last August when I was through there. It was signed as of a few years ago per corco, but the signs he remembers have disappeared.

There are no signs for WA519 to speak of even from the Interstate.

That wouldn't surprise me that it's no longer signed. I work in Downtown Seattle, so I'll have to double check. That route has certainly not been well signed.

Any update on 516?  I'm almost tempted to submit a push ;)

Pull request created to remove WA 519 (among other things): https://github.com/TravelMapping/HighwayData/pull/3054

I've decided to keep Hurricane Ridge road as is due to the fact that it starts at the visitor center and is still inside the park boundary (albeit on one side of the road) there.

Derp. I searched for "WA519", not "WA 519".
