NJ:I-78 NJTP Extension Exit Numbers
« on: August 13, 2016, 10:15:16 pm »
Should the I-78 points on the NJTP extension have a notation such as "14B(NJTP)" to distinguish them from the normal mileage exit numbers west of the NJTP?

Personally, without some sort of distinction, going from Exit 58 to Exit 14 is obviously confusing.  However, remembering that I-95 gains I-80's exit numbers north of the mainline NTJP, I am unsure what to say here.

Side Note: Should the point at Marin Blvd just be MarBlvd (see NJ 139 page)?  (maybe this is a case similar to Breezewood (and what I had asked about I-95 having a point for Exit 168) with guessed exit numbers?, that is what it seems to be looking at the I-78 in NJ Wikipedia page)

I-95 doesn't bother me much; it just skips forward a large amount, with no overlap between the two exit number ranges.
I don't fully know what to say for I-78 either -- there is overlap; a theoretical 14A or 14B could go in between 13 & 15. OTOH, there are no actual point label collisions.
Should they be 14A(NJT)? I guess that's in how one interprets the manual, but I'm more or less content to leave as-is.

The I-78 file could well date back to the earliest days of "Clinched Interstate Mapping", and the 14C and 14D labels are probably guesses.
With 14C signed prior to the toll plaza, but not at the exit itself, my takeaway is as Wikipedia says, that 14C is the toll plaza itself. Which is good, as we won't need to worry about moving the in-use label 14C.
A couple unnumbered interchanges should be added, and oddly are already included as hidden points. Changes, east of Exit 14B:
JerCityBlvd: unhide
ColDr: unhide
14C -> NJ139 (+14C as hidden AltLabel)
14D -> MarBlvd (+14D as hidden AltLabel)

Those aren't actually I-80's numbers... they're what I-95's numbers would have been if the Somerset Freeway were built (and aboye 2 miles off from I-80's numbers).

Then there's exit 68, south of the I-80 tie-in. I presume NJTP's  original (still?) north end is at US46?

The nominally tolled section of the NJTP still ends where it always did, at US46. These days the Turnpike Commission, however, has jurisdiction over all of I-95 between US46 and the beginning of Port Authority jurisdiction for the GWB. I've seen signs saying "Begin NJTP maintenance" and "End NJTP maintenance / Begin PANYNJ maintenance" just west of the GWB in recent years, but don't know if they're still there now.

The signage style on I-95 between US46 and the GWB is definitely NJTP style.

And as vdeane pointed out, the exit numbering on I-95, including exit 68, was to match the mileage on the originally proposed I-95.

Yes, looks like I just forgot to mark this as solved. Doing so now.
