Title: Greece: A123
Post by: michih on May 27, 2019, 12:11:41 am
I couldn't see any A123 sign, does it exist at all? Maybe transfer it to eursf routes so that we don't loose an active route?
If it remains, the wp with A24 should be renamed from A25 to A24 and EO16 should be renamed from ToA24 to A123.

Periphereiakḗ Odós Thessaloníkēs? It is signed as "Ring Road" (in English!) including EO111!

(whoops I hit edit, rather than quote, and so the bottom half of this message has been snipped. si404)

I'll investigate and fix it when I next get a chance. I just did the easiest thing I could with limited time.

No hurry. I just report what I find but don't expect that everything is fixed immediately....

And Περιφερειακή οδός in Greek. You'll note that eursf uses (transliterated where necessary) native names.

including EO111!
I can't see that on GMSV (which is old). I can only see a sign at the bottom end.

Leaving as-is for now.

I cannot remember exactly. The only sign with "Ring Road" I'm 100% sure is visible on 2014 GSV (https://www.google.com/maps/@40.5892538,22.9875782,3a,15y,78.64h,94.58t/data=!3m9!1e1!3m7!1s_ShiDSiWvlwt_BtDRbikFg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!9m2!1b1!2i36). It seems that there was no recent major exchange of signs. Our "EO111" is currently u/c on the north segment, the direction signs are replaced by "temporary construction direction signs" which are "incomplete".

My GPS always guided me on "Ring Road" and indicated "Ring Rpad" on its map. Maybe I mistake it...

The EO111 is being turned into A122 (or A121? The one it's not is some other urban Thessaloniki route. Hence the A123 number for the short stub after the A24 concurrency - it's what it's planned to be, but I jumped the gun). So signage would be patchy even with current GMSV - the final signage is to come next year.

EO111 is definitely the ring road, which is what the Greek means (its not 'Ring Road' as its name here for the same reason that we use Autovia not Motorway, etc). But so is the A24 (which isn't motorway on GMSV, but was the first bit upgraded) and I followed OSMs names in lieu of anything else.

Ok, it's fine to me. Marking solved.
