Title: VT: US 7 freeway exit numbers
Post by: Jim on March 15, 2024, 07:42:04 am
I was adding my US 7 travels from yesterday to my 2024 list and noticed that we don't use the exit numbers on the freeway portion of US 7 between Bennington and Manchester.  I haven't paid attention to what we've done with Vermont's sequential/milepoint dual numberings, but at least NB, I think Exit 2 was signed with its milepoint alternate pretty consistently, I don't think I saw any milepoint exit mentions for Exit 3 (probably just missed it), and Exit 4 had only one sign I noticed that included the milepoint exit.

Like elsewhere in VT, the milepoint numbers are signed one sign/exit/direction.  It's sparse enough that one can ask both "why bother?" and "how did FHWA ever sign off on this?".

Because it is largely non-freeway, I do not intend to add any exit numbers to US 7 (or US 4, for that matter).
