Title: ME 4 northern terminus in Oquossoc
Post by: froggie on May 14, 2017, 10:10:54 am
For Yakra:

Took a trip through the hinterlands of Maine yesterday and noted that ME 4 is not signed west of ME 17.  In fact, there's an "END ME 4" sign where ME 17 turns to the south.  I checked MaineDOT shapefiles (dated this past November) this morning, and ME 4 has indeed been "turned back" (as we call it in Minnesota-speak), i.e. dropped to a town road, west of ME 17.

Thanks. Interesting. Maine has had a small spate of minor truncations and redesignations in the past few years.
ME150 & ME153 similarly end at bodies of water; these appear unchanged.
I've been looking thru the HB for any other candidates for truncation I should look into.
Also on the ToDo list: ME188 has been truncated to the Burlington / Grand Falls Twp line.

ME4 was truncated between the 2012-10-05 and 2013-10-01 revisions of the shapefiles.

ME188, now this is interesting...
Everything within Grand Falls Twp is Townway, as far back as 2005, my oldest shapefiles.
PRIM_RTE is nonetheless still 188X as far as Bryant Ridge Rd (http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=45.171154&lon=-68.316459), from 2007 (the oldest shapefiles with the PRIM_RTE attribute) up until 2013-10-01. I was there in early September 2011; there was no END marker, but this westbound reassurance marker (https://www.google.com/maps/@45.1708203,-68.3170288,3a,18.8y,273.6h,80.13t/data=!3m9!1e1!3m7!1surBEdPjSOiP4KpW9V4iBpg!2e0!7i3328!8i1664!9m2!1b1!2i41) was still there.
As of 2014-10-28, ME188 is shown to terminate at the town line, with the Grand Falls Twp segment becoming an extension of Inventory Road 1901557.

As far as RAME's info (http://www.floodgap.com/roadgap/me/r?188) goes: Taking the mileage figures from the 2007 shapefiles and adding in the old mileage via ME155 & Dodlin Rd yields 22.34 mi exactly; this corresponds to a terminus at Bryant Ridge Rd, and not Lord Brook as the Route Log would suggest.

OK, right, it wasn't that interesting, was it? How about I just get to work. :D
Only deathtopumpkins.list and vespertine.list have HaiLan in use; they update their lists frequently enough that I have no problem breaking (http://tm.teresco.org/forum/index.php?topic=1889) them temporarily; I bet they'll find their errors and correct them in short order. (I see that froggie is being proactive. :) )
Note to self: While in there making edits, ME4 and pals should have I-95(63) repositioned due to the conversion from a trumpet to a parclo. (US3@I-93(20)&NH11@I-93&NH132@I-93(20) mumble mumble...) Aah, Mission Creep! :)
