I'm just wrapping up (I'm a passenger for the last hour+ of the trip as I'm writing) a 3200+ mile family trip to Florida. As usual, there weren't many opportunities for new miles on a trip I've made so many times and one focused mostly on visiting people but I did manage a bit: about 85 miles.
The ride down was I-81/I-77/I-26 instead of I-95 to avoid big city traffic at the start of the holiday week. The limited new miles were Pennsylvania 632/Pennsylvania 347/US 6 Business to get lunch in Dickson City, a short side trip from I-81 in Roanoke to dodge a storm that gave me some Virginia 115 and Virginia 117, and finally my first loop around I-277 as we drove through Charlotte.
The ride home was along a more usual route, but since it included a stay in Jacksonville for a little baseball, I got some new miles around there. First, on the way over to Jax from US 301, I picked up the little nub of Florida 23 above I-10 that connects to US 90 then the chunk of US 90 from there over into Jacksonville. In the Jacksonville area I was also able to get some miles on Florida 103 and Florida 101, much of US 1 and US 23 inside of I-295, and a lot of US 1 Alt. On a side trip to Folkston, we took Florida 115 from I-295 to Callahan on the way up, also new to me.
On the about-to-conclude ride home, a detour from I-95 in search of lunch in Fayetteville gave me all of the All-American Freeway (never traveled before) and the part of I-295 north of that route (my first NC I-295 miles). Later in the day, we grabbed some dinner off the B/W Parkway and got a section of Maryland 198, and after that stayed on Maryland 295 past I-895 to I-95, which I might have done at some point but wasn't sure until today so only added it to my .list today.
When I realized that I had traveled I-295 in Florida on Sunday, then the I-295s in North Carolina, Virginia, and Delaware/NJ on Monday, it made me wish I'd also taken I-295 in Maryland instead of staying on the beltway. I guess a consolation is the Maryland 295 north of the B/W Parkway for 4 295s in less than a day and a half. There was no interest in the car in any attempts to pick up the remaining I-295s further north on this trip.
