System is ready for peer-review (920mi): http://travelmapping.net/hb/index.php?sys=chegts
-
GTSKus
- H4_E -> H4? H2/H4
- add visible point in Weggis (Seestrasse?)
GTSZer - fine
GTSZur
- BecGerFry -> GerBecFry - order of route means the ferry is Ger->Bec
- 36(A2) is off (also A4, E35, E41)
- 36(A2) -> A2/A4?
- A4(40) could perhaps move
- ChsStr -> ChaStr (also H8, and there's no s in the first bit, so if it's to disambiguate, then Chb or something)
- add GSJs between ChsStr and H388
- A3 is off
- H15 -> H15_Rap
- BergStr_W -> H716? There's a couple more like this - I presume H7xx are lower class than unsigned H2xx and H3xx whose numbers are used.
- DufSt is slightly off
- 66(A1) is slightly off (also A1, A4, A53 - now A15, E41, E60). In fact, the Autobahn in general could probably do with a look at and recentre. I'll ignore further such points being off
- add point for Raststatte Kemptthal?
- A1/A4 -> 70(A1) or A1_E as A4 is concurrent with route both sides of junction
- H15_E -> H15_KleS
- H15_N -> H15_KleN
- SudUmf is off
- MarStr is off
- PostStr is off
- PostStr -> PostStr_W
- H4/H15 is off (also H13 and H14)
- H15/H322.1 -> H13/H322
- H352/H15 -> H13/H352
- H15/H451 -> H13/H451
- H7/H443 -> H7/H446
- H443/H463 -> H446/H463
- H448/H16 -> H16/H448?
LIE GTS - fine
-
BecGerFry -> GerBecFry - order of route means the ferry is Ger->Bec
There is no rule. I use the
I'm with Duke87:
For routes ending at a ferry terminal, use the names of the ferry's endpoints, near side first and far side second, followed by "Fry".
- BergStr_W -> H716? There's a couple more like this - I presume H7xx are lower class than unsigned H2xx and H3xx whose numbers are used.
I don't remember but you could be right. I think that 700s were not indicated on OSM when I drafted the route. Leave as-is since it's unsigned in any case.
- H352/H15 -> H13/H352
- H448/H16 -> H16/H448?
I've changed both but am not sure... I thought we call them according to the route order. When GTS is concurrent to H352 and continues on H13, it's called H352/H13. Or do we go with ascending order?
The rule has no preference: https://travelmapping.net/devel/manual/wayptlabels.php#bothroutes
If the highway jumps from one numbered multiplex to another, the most useful waypoint label would include both routes without any suffixes.

General route things:
There's a short gap in central Luzern between (Main) and (Küssnacht) segments - why aren't these merged into a continuous route?
There's spurs: Saint-George to Geneve, Neuchâtel-Basel and Bellinzona-Chiasso that aren't included here, unlike the one towards Zermatt.
-
GTS (Main)
- H3 -> H3/H27 as changing concurrent route
- H3/H417 -> H3_N as not a junction between GTS and H417 which is concurrent either side
- Alv slightly off
- Alv -> VeiaPri?
- Tsc is off highway and at the wrong junction
- replace shaping point east of A13 with point at Schynstrasse
- A13 is off
- A13 -> A13(22)
- H417/H13 -> H13/H417 for consistency?
- is A13(23) an actual junction?
- replace hidden point with visible point in Andeer
- 28(A13) is off - the A13 needs a tidy (I'll ignore further off points)
- route needs to be concurrent with H13 between 31(A13) and A13(32)
- shape H13 and A13 around exit 32 so that their lines don't cross
- ToA13(38) is off
- add point for road linking to A13(39) - also H13
- Vit -> ViaSanCar
- H13/H2 -> H2/H13 for consistency?
- H2/H13 -> A13/H2 for consistency?
- A13/A2 -> A2/A13 for consistency?
- H408/H2 -> H2/H408 for consistency?
- H561/H2 -> H2/H561_N (and H2/H561 -> H2/H561 for consistency?
- A9_VisE is off (give the A9 a polish - there's a couple more)
- GTSZer -> H212? GTSZur calls this point H9, not GTS. Also E62 and H9.
- RouSio -> RouSion
- H9/H21 -> H9/H21_Mar or _S to disambiguate from concurrency switch at Bex
- make visible hidden point at Pont sur le Rhone
- H146/H21 -> H21/H146 for consistency?
- H9_Bex -> H9/H21 or H9/H21_Bex (concurrency switch)
- H127 -> H147
- H11_W -> H9/H11
- H9_Vev -> H9/H140
- add points between H140_N and H9_Lut (eg Route de la Corniche that would lead to H9 points either side of Cully)
- H9_Pul -> H9/H138?
- AveGenGui_W -> H138_W?
- BreLau points off
- H1_E -> H1/H138?
- add point at Avenue Monod (links to A1 interchange, helps shape route)
- H128/H124 -> H124/H128 for consistency?
- H131 -> H131_S (as another junction with H131)
- H130.1/H129 -> H129/H130.1 for consistency?
- H130 -> H131_N
- move H9_Val to between one-way pair?

There's a short gap in central Luzern between (Main) and (Küssnacht) segments - why aren't these merged into a continuous route?
I really don't know why there is a gap. Since the system was renamed from eurtr to chegts, Github history is gone....... :(
The Küssnacht segments starts where my source (https://www.dreamango.com/de/tour/touristische-strassen/grand-tour-of-switzerland/18634381/#dm=1&dmdtab=oax-tab1) indicates the starting point of GTS. I guess that's why there are two segments and maybe the end of the main route got lost anyhow. Again, Github history lost.... :(
There's spurs: Saint-George to Geneve, Neuchâtel-Basel and Bellinzona-Chiasso that aren't included here, unlike the one towards Zermatt.
My source doesn't show them but the official site (https://www.myswitzerland.com/en-ch/experiences/experience-tour/grand-tour-of-switzerland/) indicates them. To be added... Including wild guess about the exact routes.... Damn tourist shit....

In fact, the Autobahn in general could probably do with a look at and recentre.
Done.
-
GTS (Main) continued
- H5/H151 -> H5_N or similar (H151 is concurrent both sides of point)
- A5 -> A5(2) (and adjust autobahn to get points precise - also A8)
- H151/H149 -> H149/H151 for consistency?
- H149_W -> H149_N
- add points to correspond with H10 points along parallel section
- RueVieMou -> RueSaiEti (also H5)
- H10/AutGalsIns is a yucky name: H10_E?
- AutGalsIns/H153 -> H153_N
- H182_W -> H182_N; H182_E -> H182_S
- LauStr -> RueLau? even the German Style OSM has the French even as it ups the German
- H182/H12 -> H12/H182 for consistency?
- H180.1/H180 -> H180/H180.1 for consistency?
- H180_N -> H180_S (as concurrency split)
- H180_S -> H180_N (as concurrency split)
- H191/H190 -> H190/H191 for consistency?
- H190/H11 -> H11/H190 for consistency?
- JaunPass -> H219
- H6_S -> H6_W as concurrency split
- A8(24) -> H221.4_S (also H6 and H11 as H221.4)
- H221_IntE -> H221_Int
- replace hidden point in Interlaken with visible one (at Beatenbergstrasse?)
- H221_IntW -> H221_E as concurrency split
- H221.4 -> H221.4_N
- replace visible point in Oberhofen with visible point. Gunten/Sigriswil is big enough to deserve a visible point, and probably Hilterfingen and Hunibach.
- split H6_W into two as there's a concurrency there. Name as H6_N and H6_S
- rename hidden point in Thun as MitStr_W as also leads to A6(16)
- H6_N -> H6/H221.1
- H221.1/H221 for consistency?
- H231/H230 -> H231/H230 for consistency?
- add point at Belpstrasse as leads to H221 GSJ and helps with clear shaping
- H234.5/H23 -> H23/H234.5 for consistency?
- H245_S -> H245_W; H245_N -> H245_E ?
- H229.2/H23 -> H23/H229.2 for consistency?
- H243/H10 -> H10/H243 for consistency?
- H10/H2a -> H2a/H10 for consistency?
- H362 is off (also H23)
- H290/H26 -> H26/H290 for consistency?
- make hidden point east of H26/H291 visible at SchStr (Seengen is definitely big enough for a point!)
- H298/H26 -> H26/H298 for consistency?
- H26/H2 -> H2/H26 for consistency?
- H4_W -> H2a/H4
I did a lot of this earlier - stuff like autobahn point locations might have been addressed already.
There's a lot of these 'for consistency' label order changes - probably easier to change back those previously changed! I thought it was a rule (I definitely remember Tim imposing it on me)
-
To be added... Including wild guess about the exact routes.... Damn tourist shit....
There's GPS/KML data here (https://www.myswitzerland.com/en-gb/experiences/experience-tour/grand-tour-of-switzerland/facts-about-the-grand-tour-of-switzerland/map-navigation/) if needed.
-
- route needs to be concurrent with H13 between 31(A13) and A13(32)
Concurrent to A13
- GTSZer -> H212? GTSZur calls this point H9, not GTS. Also E62 and H9.
H9 and GTSZer are TM routes. H212 is not a TM route.
- H10/AutGalsIns is a yucky name: H10_E?
- AutGalsIns/H153 -> H153_N
It's the name of the TM route. Leave as-is.
- LauStr -> RueLau? even the German Style OSM has the French even as it ups the German
Nope. Zoom in closer. It's Rue de Lusanne in Meyriez (FR) but Lusannestrasse in Maurten (DE) :)
btw: It think that German style OSM uses the very same data and just uses a different style.
- H6_S -> H6_W as concurrency split
There is already a H6_W
- H221_IntE -> H221_Int
- H221_IntW -> H221_E as concurrency split
Sorry, don't get it. I'd go with _IntE/_IntW or _W/_E but no mismatch
- make hidden point east of H26/H291 visible at SchStr
There is already Schrabachstrasse. ScuStr for school street is fine.
There's a lot of these 'for consistency' label order changes - probably easier to change back those previously changed! I thought it was a rule (I definitely remember Tim imposing it on me)
I had already changed them... chegts will will be this way.
-
To be added...
The routes are called:
- Core route
- Initial stretch Basel - Neuchâtel
- Initial stretch Geneva - Saint-George
- Initial stretch Chiasso - Bellinzona
Also called "Einstiegsetappe", "Route d’accès" or "Tappa introduttiva".
I had only drafted the core route. I'm not sure whether we should / must add the other branches but... Chiasso - Bellinzona is already drafted as "Lugano" segment and the remaining two routes will follow if there are no objections...
-
I've added the remaining "initial stretch" routes.
-
Lugano
- H2/H13_N -> GTS? (it seems to be how you've done it elsewhere)
- ViaGiuSep -> ViaGiuLep
- A13/H13_W -> A13_Loc (H13 remains concurrent either side)
- A13_AscW -> A13_AscA (directional suffixes seem odd. additionally this route is N-S and so W-E labels to determine order is odd)
- A13_AscE -> A13_AscB (see above)
- A13/H13_E -> H13_Loc (A13 remains concurrent either side)
- H406_S -> A13/H406 (concurrency change)
- does it really just fall short of the border?
Geneva
- A1 -> A1(12)?
- RueCel -> RouCel (also H1)
- add point just north of A1a for access to A1(9) (also H1)
Basel
(Delémont)
- H5 -> GTS?
- RueEcl -> RueEcl_E
- RueJuin -> Reu23Juin
- add H248_S (also H18)
- RuePet -> RouPre and is off
(France)
- remove brackets from name in csvs
(Basel)
- point for Bottmingerstrasse?
(St Johann)
- 5(A3) -> GTS?
-
- H2/H13_N -> GTS? (it seems to be how you've done it elsewhere)
No, I used Axx or Hxx because they are TM routes. I didn't use Hxxx labels which are not TM routes. Instead, I used GTSZer and GTSGen wps at GTS and GTS at GTSGen.
http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=46.292274&lon=7.879386
http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=46.513866&lon=6.260211
I also used GTS at Hxx routes where GTS continues on a Hxxx route.
