Later in the month, WIS-81 will be extended east of I-90 and will follow new right-of-way which is very adjacent to I-43. the highway turns north onto Hart Rd where it ends at I-43. Right now I cannot confirm the new routing, but I'll keep an eye out and do a field check when the interchange is done.
It's questionable whether the route should be modified, but it will likely have to be due to its terminal change.

WI 81 certainly will need an extension. The next question is, is it acceptable for the I-90/43 exit point to remain in place and remain as WI 81's intersection? It looks like it should be OK to do it that way.

It looks like it is open (https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=6819.msg2682508#msg2682508).
For WI 81, maybe go I-90>-I-39/90 and then just label the new eastern end as I-43. That should be fine.

It's open, but has only 2-lanes of traffic on 81 (the new one)
