Failed site update and DB failure 1/18-1/19/20

TM's mysql database got into an unusable state overnight on 1/18, fixed at 7 AM EST on 1/19.  I launched the site update, but did not notice that the "User Sleep" mysql processes were stacking up, which seems to be the cause of this kind of thing.  Left in that state with a hanging site update and TM and SMF queries coming in, the DB got into a bad state that required a hard restart of the process.  The forum's back, the site is back, and last night's site update is being rerun right now.
