WI WI311
« on: November 10, 2022, 06:38:57 am »
Wisconsin seems to pulled another ball out of the lottery bag.  Wisconn Valley Parkway been signed according to Chris Tarr (GeekJedi on AARoads) as Wis 311 - news article indicates it's been that way for some time - but the goog and OSM do not show it yet.  (for those not in the know Wisconn is a play of words for this because Foxconn and the state's previous governor made a deal to build a factory here and pour money into other initiatives, which the former reneged on and the latter got kicked out of office for.

This make sense since WisDOT poured money into this and had to finish due

For verification purposes, I have taken some photos of the new route signs and posted them on AARoads.

The route runs from CTH-KR to WI-11. I think adding Braun Rd as a waypoint would also make sense.

Sending this in shortly. It took a while to actually find the thing, despite your links. Artificially winding roads are bad and stupid.  :P

You're not the only one that had to do a deliberate search.  It's another highway to nowhere (though it doesn't stand out like the Baltimore one des)

Those are very gentle curves with no visual obstructions on a 35mph speed limit. Sheesh, I figured it would be at least 45.

Is anyone allowed to enjoy driving anymore?

Nope.

I'm sure it was done assuming the road would be surrounded by buildings and full of trucks. Obviously, that's not the case.

Also, I noticed Braun Rd's waypoint is listed as "CraRd" currently. I'm assuming it should be "BraRd" or "BrnRd".

Also I do not think we need the hidden shaping points on this route whatsoever.  The road will probably look just fine and be in lateral without them.

It's another highway to nowhere...

And now I am earwormed by Talking Heads. ("We're on a road to nowhere...")

Of course the "real" Road To Nowhere, the one that *I* remember from my days of learning to drive in eastern PA, actually got completed! It's now part of US 222 north of Reading. (The freeway used to run from its north end to the bridge over Tulpehocken Creek and then unceremoniously dump you onto a 2-lane road with no shoulders in the middle of a forest. Is was like that for nearly 40 years.)

Yes, that's a typo. Do I need to resend the file?
