Title: NC: Shelby Bypass (US 74 Future)
Post by: dfilpus on April 14, 2020, 11:49:24 am
The first segment of the Shelby Bypass is open from US 74 to NC 226. It is currently signed as TO NC 226 and TO US 74.
Waypoints for the interchanges with US 74 (Exit 194) and NC 226 (SheByp) should be added to those highways.

Thanks. The bypass has only a State Route number (SR 1900), which it will keep until the bypass is complete, when it will be renumbered to US 74 (probably Bypass, since there is a US 74 Business in Shelby already).
We did not include the Sanford Bypass in the HB until US 421 was moved onto the bypass, even though the freeway connected NC 87, US 421 and US 1 for years. This is a similar case.

Any thoughts on adding the current 5-mile freeway to usasf until it's finished and renumbered?

It strikes me as an odd omission. I'm not sure what the reasoning is for not adding it to usasf.

And not having the Sanford bypass was a similar issue.

If it is a freeway (which it is) and fits the criteria for usasf (which to my knowledge it does), then I don't see a reason to exclude it.
