deuhel: Hesse Landesstraßen
« on: August 31, 2019, 04:10:28 pm »
System is ready for peer-review (4252mi): http://travelmapping.net/hb/index.php?sys=deuhel
Sources and notes to routes: https://github.com/TravelMapping/HighwayData/blob/master/hwy_data/DEU-HE/deuhel/README.md

Hessen.Mobil maps are from 2016. That was fine when I drafted the routes in early 2017 but I still hope that the maps will be updated. I regularly check the weekly Hesse "Amtsblatt" (government gazette) for rededication info but there seem to be less changes.

panda80 has already offered to peer-review the system but everyone is welcomed to report issues here.

2020 maps are now available: https://mobil.hessen.de/service/downloads-formulare/netzknotenkarten-hessen

I'll review deuhel by myself now as I already did for other German systems.

I've done 60% of the first check (in wpt editor) but there are still some odd data I already struggeled with when drafting the system based on 2016 data. For instance, there is a route (L3350) which was already tagged as L3350 on OSM 12 years ago and a press release of the road authority indicated it being L3350 a year ago, but the whole road is not visible on the map. There are more examples (L3003 Nieder-Eschbach, L3258 Dipperz,...) which "look odd" on the map...

I asked the road authority hessen.mobil for clarification. I stop the review and wait for an answer.

They answered that there is no L3350. The former L3350 was rededicated to a local road in 1980s. The press release from March 2020 was a mistake and they have updated it now - a year after they had published it :D

I already googled for the other examples when I drafted the system and earlier this week again. I only found - back then and now - that L3003 was proposed to be relocated. Nothing happened so far since I regularly check the official info and the 2020 map still indicates the route as we have it in HB.

System will be activated with the next site update - after almost four years in preview.
