Just a reminder, since it was my drive-by, on Monday, which started this.
TDOT has the Union City bypass signed as I-69, on the southside, while TN 690 is signed on the northside.
I don't know what TDOT will decide on.
Feel free to peruse my photos of the interchanges, at either end of US 51 around Union City.

Fingers crossed that they'll have the number sorted out by the time it opens.

We finally have confirmation that the I-69 Union City bypass will be posted as TN-690 to start.  Still no official opening date yet, but from the photos I've seen, I'd put money on it being before Christmas for sure.

Cool. I'll keep watching for confirmation that it's open and add it then.

No confirmation, but I scheduled a trip for this past weekend anyway with fingers crossed. Turns out it was premature; crossing one's fingers may get actual work done on the roadway, but they do not clear up the schedules of designated ribbon-cutters. Seriously, that's what I heard when I called the district DOT office to see when it would open. The person who would be cutting the ribbon was busy until at least the 22nd, so the barricades stay up until their calendar allows for a trip with giant scissors.

 :pan:

This sounds like my county's excuse for not giving out "I VOTED" stickers back in 2016.  They were saying that the cost of stickers matched the cost of new voting machines.  Of course, we got new machines, and we have gotten stickers the last couple years.

The Union City Bypass should have been completed by now. Then again, I also think the Greenville, MS Bypass should have been completed by now as well.
Well, obviously.

Any volunteers to drive out to Union City?

Union City resident here...I can confirm the bypass is still not open, for whatever reason. We had a press release back before Thanksgiving, when 51 northbound would reopen. At that time, they said the plan was to have both Northbound 51 and 69 open by Thanksgiving weekend. It has been silence since then, with no explanation. There have been rumors locally about the overpasses "sinking" and TDOT keeping it closed for that reason in the meantime. I have no idea if this is true or not or even what it means for that matter, so can't confirm that.  All lines are painted and the best I can tell all signage is up, it appears ready...but remains closed.

Anyone still paying attention to future interstates will notice that a few more miles were added to that system, since I extended I-69 Future (Union City) when adding TN 690.
