Title: MD: MD49 east endpoint
Post by: mapcat on March 21, 2016, 09:25:53 pm
Several years ago on the CHM forum, I reported (http://clinched.s2.bizhat.com/viewtopic.php?t=2001&mforum=clinched) an extension of MD49 to the Braddock Rd/Greene St intersection in Cumberland:

https://www.google.com/maps/@39.6491928,-78.7840113,3a,75y,259.8h,81.22t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sprTQtpvH_h2ksbs3I_P6wQ!2e0!7i3328!8i1664!6m1!1e1 (https://www.google.com/maps/@39.6491928,-78.7840113,3a,75y,259.8h,81.22t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sprTQtpvH_h2ksbs3I_P6wQ!2e0!7i3328!8i1664!6m1!1e1)

Tim asked about it but never made any adjustments. The GMSV imagery shows that the route is signed at that intersection as well as at Seton Dr:

https://www.google.com/maps/@39.6433494,-78.7989125,3a,75y,88.86h,72.9t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sk5i9Qg8VWzMtIVHMUVCfaA!2e0!7i3328!8i1664!6m1!1e1 (https://www.google.com/maps/@39.6433494,-78.7989125,3a,75y,88.86h,72.9t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sk5i9Qg8VWzMtIVHMUVCfaA!2e0!7i3328!8i1664!6m1!1e1)

Is there any reason not to extend it?

MD 49 officially ends at Sunset, 1.02 miles from MD 658.

Postings east of there are left over from when it used to run to Greene.  The older sign dates back decades...

Looks like it should stay where it is.

I stumbled onto this fun while clinching this route yesterday morning (while I was driving in MD and not TX).  The posting situation (https://www.google.com/maps/@39.6493246,-78.7842051,3a,75y,217.94h,79.68t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sBPbuQ_llIz4pC5J9Ky3VVw!2e0!7i16384!8i8192) and the HLR (https://www.roads.maryland.gov/OPPEN/2019%20Allegany.pdf) are practically the same as of yesterday as what was posted in this thread back in 2016.

I feel sad that I have to be proud of myself for remembering to actually use the search feature before starting a new thread.
