JPN: E45 more sections are complete
« on: November 28, 2021, 08:29:07 pm »
E45 is currently open all the way to exit 60.  Exit 57 and 58 opened on July 9th.   e045.wpt and e045fud.wpt should be combined to reflect this.

On December 18th, exits 60 to 65 will open (https://travel.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/1368635.html).  When this occurs, E45 is complete to Hachinohe, so e045hac can then be combined with the other E45 files.

Should I be the person responsible for updating the Japanese systems now that they are active?

If you would like to, then yes please. If not, I'll do it.

If you want help, let me know.

Thanks

I will do the updates.  My sources for highway news cover both the expressways and national highways, so it makes sense for me to do both.

It'll be a learning experience combining e045 and e045fud.  Is this process described anywhere?  I'm assuming I just move the waypoints from e045fud to e045, add the new exits, delete e045fud, and update the system files.

Also, what is the normal procedure if any of the waypoints in e045fud are in use?

and update the system files.
You may already know this :) -- plain E45 will need E45Fud (as it would appear in a .list file) as an AltRouteName in the rightmost field in the chopped routes CSV file.
For example, NC I-74Hig has 3 AltRouteNames.

Also, what is the normal procedure if any of the waypoints in e045fud are in use?
Suggest copying & pasting the pointsinuse.log entries for both jpn.e045 & jpn.e045fud into the small box on wptedit.

On another note, the north end of the current (for now) E45 main segment looks like it has a closed/demolished temporary connector, one of these, about here just south of Exit 57.
Suggest replacing N45_TaM with this as *OldE45 (the asterisk denotes a closed intersection).

The procedure for maintaining systems is described: https://travelmapping.net/devel/manual/maintenance.php
@yakra mentioned the basic things but missed the update entry :)

@yakra: Moved this and ITA topic to the right board :)

Thanks for the help with process.

E45 and E45Fud are not referenced in any user files -- do I need to add the alternate route name and change waypoints to *Oldxx?

No. Alt labels and lab routes are only required if they are in use.

I'd say, yes, in case anyone what's to add pre-2021 travels anywhere down the road. You definitely need the update entries.

@nezinscot: Good job with active routes so far :) I have two minor notes:

- We use the full route name for the update entry:
Code: [Select]
E45 -> E45 (Ishinomaki)
E45Fud -> E45 (Fudai)
E77Tak -> E77 (Takachiho)
E42 -> E42 (Odai)
E42Kum -> E42 (Kumano)

- When all issues of the topic are solved, we mark it "Topic solved" (and move the topic to the "Solved Highway data updates" board)

I have updated the Japanese expressway changes on the Updates page to use full route names.

I'll mark this topic closed and move it.
