NC: I-40 'eastern' end extended?

(1/2) > >>

rickmastfan67:
Seems like I-40's eastern end just gained some brand new 'END/BEGIN' shields in the last few months.

There's also a 'END I-40 2400 FT' shield on the SB US-117 onramp to I-40 there.  Seems to almost line up perfectly to the location mileage wise from that shield too.

Worth justifying a short extension of the route?  I think yes since the END/BEGIN shields are outside of the interchange footprint.

I wonder if this is the only school speed zone on an interstate?

froggie:
There's a noticeable pavement change at the new BEGIN/END sign location as well.

Jim:
Need to remember corresponding points in US 117 and NC 132 to keep them concurrent.

rickmastfan67:
Just also noticed on the WB side, they have the text 'BEGIN FRIS' on the pavement.

And just looked at some of the more historical StreetView imagery, they had previous BEGIN/END shields there before at that same spot.  They were just missing for a few years.
