Title: Redesign of user page
Post by: michih on July 19, 2020, 01:46:33 pm
What do you think about the user page https://travelmapping.net/user/ ?

--------------------------------------------
From https://github.com/TravelMapping/Web/issues/530

Actual design:

I think that the size of the new text about scrollable maps and top stats should be aligned with the link to the log file
Wording should also be aligned (once "stats" once "statistics"). And, do we still need "new"? Should the links be here or is there a better place for it?

Suggestions:

--------------------------------------------

H o w    s h o u l d    t h e    u s e r    p a g e    b e    d e s i g n e d ?

Hoping to get feedback from many of you about this.  It's easy enough to experiment with some redesign ideas.

Check out a version on tmstage.teresco.org.

I think it is nice, especially the scrollable mapview.

Another possibility for "top stats" is to put that table right in this same page.

I am fine with this version at the moment.

I like the additional info "User michih has travels in 86 regions." or "User michih has travels in 150 highway systems." I'd like to have more like this, e.g. "has clinched x regions / highway systems" etc.

It looks odd that the "user links" paragraph is left-aligned while everything else is centered. I have no good idea how to solve it though. A centered table with one column and left-aligned text?

I didn't bother with clinched counts since it's pretty unusual for our users to clinch any but the smallest regions and highway systems.

To start, I just used the same CSS for the text that we use throughout the site.  I worry that doing too much to try to get this somehow centered (which I don't want to do outright) will not behave nicely on a variety of screen sizes.
