MA: I-95 at MA 286
« on: November 01, 2019, 09:04:21 pm »
I-95 should have a separate point added for MA 286 to create the graph connection here.  The ramp from MA 286 to I-95 SB is the only ramp in the interchange coming directly from MA 286.

It should be the same coordinates as the existing I-95 point on MA 286.

Or relocate the point for exit 60 there? 1 point per interchange after all...

Worth noting for some context: the thread is gone now that the CHM forum is dead, but MA 286 was originally mapped as going up Toll Rd to end at the current location of the exit 60 point. The western end was moved to its current location after I reported this to be more accurate based on field signage years ago (2013?). The graph connection would have been broken then.

The mapping of MA 286 would put it under the exception here.  I think the 60 point should remain as-is.

Well, the distance is 0.44 miles when I put a point @ MA-286 into I-95's file.  I think that's close enough to 0.5 miles that it could be added.

With the shape of the main Exit 60 interchange, we have some wiggle room in where to position the point. Scooching it a bit closer to the NB onramp gore, I got 0.51 mi. :)
Being the missing movement of the main Exit 60 interchange, it makes sense to go with "60A".
The only .list line using the "60" label is
barefoot_driver.list: MA I-95 RI/MA 60
If he drove that segment SB, then our labels can be, S->N, 60 & 60A.
If he drove that segment NB, then our labels can be, S->N, 60A & 60.
He's active on the forum occasionally, so I couldn't resist sending a PM to find out which it was. If no response relatively soon, I'll go with 60A & 60, in order to avoid changing his existing stats.
Edit: Tentatively added to my local file as 60A, but not staged for commit.

Northbound. I'll add the new point as 60A, as in my local file, rather than be all "Hey you! Change your .list!" I like having 60 as the one that actually has a signed exit number anyway.
