Title: GA: NMPs to fix or mark as FPs
Post by: Jim on May 28, 2022, 09:23:46 am
Similar to my request related to Oregon, @ntallyn, would you have time soon to look at the Georgia NMPs to help improve the graph data?  If not, I'd be happy to take a few minutes to do it.

Jim --

Would you mind looking it over? I think most of them are false positives (you know how Georgia is with its large numbers of close-by routes), but I know I wasn't keeping up on the list. And right now, my wife is recovering from surgery, so this project is quite far down the priority list.

Sure, I'll take a look (unless someone else wants to jump in and beat me to it).  Best wishes for a speedy recovery for your wife!

Go ahead Jim.  I probably will not beat you to it as I am priortizing route plans this weekend.  Anyway I hope ntallyn that your wife gets better soon (and prioritize that please over looking at anything I post, my GA minor point errors thread is still a work in progress at the moment).

Looking at these now, @ntallyn is right that there are mostly FPs.  Some do need matching up and I'm doing that.

Leaving the "Looks Intentional" ones southwest of Atlanta that look like they might be intended to keep I-85 and I-285 separate.  Those more familiar can let me know if those points should be matched up or left as is.

My changes are in this commit (https://github.com/TravelMapping/HighwayData/commit/170a42aee67475f0831a256990c83b6c551ab342).

I personally think that there should be graph connections along I-85 and I-285 in that area at each visible point with invisible shaping points between the interchanges to keep them from being marked concurrent.

^ Agreed. IMO this is best practice for breaking false concurrencies while retaining graph connections and intersecting/concurrent routes.

I think there may also be a case made that GA14ConAtl should be extended to the eastern I-85/I-285 point with the same format, but I am unsure if that is truly the case.

I fixed the NMPs along I-85/I-285. I did not extend GA14Con.
