Interesting how it's routed... I always thought of it as going to I-190 rather than the NSP (actually, I tend to think of that piece as the NSP).  I wonder why the reference route was set up that way, especially given the original plans to extend it to the Rainbow Bridge.

Revisiting this since I was looking at the area in street view today, although the reference routes are set as currently entered, it's essentially signed as the LaSalle going to I-190 at exit 21A and the Niagara Scenic Parkway extending to meet the LaSalle there, with mile 0 being just south of the interchange with the I-190(21A) point.

Posting here as this is what I saw the same signage you did vdeane Friday.  I think that the LaSalle should extend west to end at I-190 at Exit 21A with the Niagara Scenic Pkwy extended northeast to the LaSalle.

Taking a look at the area myself, but I would also recommend a separate point on NY-384 for the ramps from the Niagara Scenic Pkwy just to the west of I-190.  Especially since if you're on SB I-190, you must take NY-384 to those ramps to access NiaScePkwyNia going towards the Falls.

Maybe even a separate point on NiaScePkwyNia for those ramps to NY-384 too.

We should probably also move this topic temporarily back out of the Solved area as well to allow more eyes to see this (which I just did).

I agree 100% with everything you just said, though I am definitely in favor of having too many points over not enough points.

It's just what is done, and to do otherwise is a tremendously slippery slope to go down.

True, and it wasn't a decision I took lightly.

There's been some occasional precedent for just picking one direction and plotting that -- NY5 & pals in Buffalo come to mind -- this solution could work picking northbound R138.

That's a good solution. I'll look at implementing that.

Do you have an additional source for NR18 routing?

NR2:
N18_Gis -> NR18_Gis but NR18 does not intersect! -> ToNR18_Gis or add spur or reroute NR18 (Chris' map shows it ending at NR2, not at border and I found no map indicating NR18 through Gisenyi towards the border)

NR18:
Check routing at west end, please refer to NR2

I implemented the routing you suggested in the posts you quoted. I'd made an error initially, based on Chris' route description having the DRC flag on it, when it doesn't reach the border (his map is unclear). OSM has the route it now is in the browser.

From the AARoads thread, some of the changes are happening more or less immediately, others will take weeks or months. Since all the changes are live on TM, not a big deal.

I agree that LakDr should be un-hidden, since that's one of the points where the US 10 reroute peels away from the old route. I'll be using that point.

I was making the new point lists using the old points from the existing files. So the Maritime/Waldo intersection (now the US 10/WI 42 north intersection) was centered until they put in that [expletive deleted] roundabout.

Looking at it further, WI 42 could use a couple intersections to the northwest to stay out of the lake.

LakDr can be visible, and in fact I would be one of the people it might benefit, but I don't know how well that will work in practice. The traffic flow they want to set up at the ferry makes no sense and drivers may end up turning from Quay into the ferry parking lot/loading area without getting to that point.

If we're jumping the gun it's only by a matter of days, per froggie's post.
