PA: Northern Section of the CSVT
« on: November 17, 2021, 08:08:16 pm »
This is currently planned to be open in the Fall of 2022.

From what I remember looking at the signage plans on ECMS, the route changes as shown on the diagram while the southern section is being built will be the following:

Obviously, PA 61 will still end at its current location.  It will no longer be concurrent with PA 147 north of the Veterans Memorial Bridge though it will be concurrent with PA 147 on it.

Obviously, US 15 Business will not exist until the southern section is open.

After the concurrency with PA 61 on the Veterans Memorial Bridge, PA 147 will be concurrent with US 15 (and partly US 11, which will not have any alignment changes even after the southern section opens) to the south end of the northern section until the southern section opens.

PA 405 will be in its final configuration being extended south to PA 61 in Sunbury.

I hope I typed this all correctly.

EDIT (5-18-2022):  The Northern Section is now planned to be opened in July.  (https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=2410.msg2738792#msg2738792)

A friend of mine who lives in Northumberland was present for the official opening of the bridge -- she's a former borough councilperson, and one of those pushing for the CSVT for a while now. Alas I don't have a downloadable picture to post.

I created a separate "PA-CSVT" branch in Github to hold the changes until it is time to implement them.

If anyone wants to look at them, they are here (https://github.com/Markkos1992/HighwayData/pull/349).

Held for less than two hours...

PennDOT - District 3 News: CSVT Northern Section Opening to Traffic This Week

https://github.com/TravelMapping/HighwayData/pull/5905

I did not attempt to save any labels here on PA 147 and PA 405 so there will be tons of broken list files.

So, just a thought with the 'RidRd_*' points.  Maybe one can be 'RidRd', and the other have a City tag instead since they are completely 2 separate roads?

If there was a third RidRd, I would, but I'd rather leave it as-is with only two RidRds (especially since RidRd_N is for the same RidRd as before, just now on PA 147's new alignment).

The news release mentioning the rerouting of PA 147 and PA 405 is a week late IMO.

I tried to position the *OldPA147 point in order to make the realignment of PA 405 at the Old PA 147 intersection a non-issue, but I am open to repositioning it if it seems necessary.
