vnmct: Vietnam Cao Toc
« on: June 30, 2021, 09:46:47 am »
Finally got around to logging my travels in Vietnam.  When trying to log the route I took to Ha Long Bay, I got this in my log file:

VNM: duplicate label QL18 in vnm.ct09. Please report this error in the TravelMapping forum. Unable to parse line: VNM CT09 CT04 QL18

Just a quick look...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expressways_of_Vietnam#List_of_Expressways

CT25:
Should be CT27 according to OSM but CT14 according to GM and wikipedia
It misses a wp for the former or future? GSJ with QL27. Minimum a shaping point north of it should be added to distinguish from QL20

CT03:
Should be CT08 according to OSM and GM

CT37:
Should be CT20 according to GM and wikipedia

Wow, "great" challenge! :(

I mean, no useful source nor GSV to confirm if OSM or GM is right.... Just look at the 80km+ CT06 extension on OSM. Nothing visible on GM nor satellite view but GM routes traffic there anyhow. Is there a road or not?

Minimum, the freeway system (tier 1) has a length of 765 miles and has 3 travelers. So, I think the system is worth being reviewed and activated. But.... how?

Vietnam renumbered most of these roads relatively recently. I went with Wegenwiki, which used the official listings. I don't know if OSM (and good luck with GM) has updated fully.

The confusion is unsurprising.

Got it!

CT37:
Should be CT20 according to GM and wikipedia

It seems that CT20 was renamed to CT37 in 2021: https://www.wegenwiki.nl/3rd_Ring_Road_(Hanoi)

Goodness...

16km have been opened yesterday. The remaining 81km should be opened in September: https://www.skyscrapercity.com/threads/1464920/post-179723687

Fine. I know that I (usually) don't need to remember you of SSC news but there were some news I haven't seen reflected on TM. Maybe because the openings didn't require any change or anything else making them not relevant for TM? I remember one or two openings in Spain, the new motorway on Reunion, anything in Caucasus?, Philippines?, India or Pakistan/Iran? Again, I don't remember. That's why I thought that I might crosspost this.... sorry.

Israel and BIH have just been reported yesterday late - for sure too recently to expect it being in ;)

I spent last week away from my desktop and only really had the early afternoon yesterday to try and catch up so hadn't updated outside of the Ppolish ones. Wegenwiki has additionally been slow in reporting. It's more reliable.

Reunion is hard as it's basically half the road has moved, but the other half is in situ. The visible points are basically the same and so it's a case of "do I move the shaping points to the temporary layout". At the moment I'm tending to no build until both directions are on the viaduct over the ocean rather than the road directly under the cliffs.

I've not seen any Spain recently. Pakistan has bigger fish to fry right now than opening roads - namely reopening flooded roads.   Philippines has a short bit I'm waiting for more infor on. Iran and India I'm not maintaining really (ditto Russia, China, etc) beyond necessary updates to active roads that come up in something like the Wegenwiki recent openings. Caucasus are (long overdue) getting an overhaul after I've done Serbia - which I put in front because of waiting for the war stuff to get sorted (now is, perhaps it jumps back ahead?).

BiH is a bit interesting - it's not the easiest (probably why it took Chris Z a couple of days to get it on Wegenwiki. Ditto the Polish S5 which, not only ought to be fully done by now, but has an arbitrary "this access controlled divided highway is still DK5 as the aren't quite done, but this almost identical one is S5 other than a few documents signed off).

Thanks for explanation. Spain had something for N routes.... but I don't remember and have no time to look back right now. It think must been back in July.
