ME: Routes 129 and 130 no longer concurrent?
« on: May 08, 2021, 06:47:20 am »
New green-background route signs along routes 129/130 between 1A in Damariscotta and the 129/130 split in Bristol say "129/To 130", indicating that the concurrency no longer exists.  There are two separate signs heading south that say this - one near 1A and another just south of School Street.  Heading north from the split, only a 129 sign is present.  However, at 1A, older white-background signs say 129/130 without the "To".  Does anyone know if the roads are truly no longer concurrent?  The DOT Map Viewer still shows a concurrency.

The 129/130 overlap has always been a wibbly-wobbly "is and is not" kind of affair. The signage you describe goes back to ~2007 at both locations, the green one S of School St being a more recent (2015-2018) replacement.
Endpoint info came from RoadsAroundME. When Cameron Kaiser developed the site, he got route logs straight from MDOT.

Terminus of Main St and mileage match the HB.

Shapefiles:
• medotpubrds.shp dated 2019-05-24 indicates a overlap.
• MaineDOT_Public_Roads.shp dated 2020-11-19 has changed the format of the data; it's not evidenced, not ruled out either.

With the disagreement between the different sets of signs, I let the route log be the deciding factor.
Though I suppose a "missing TO" argument could be made for signing ME130 from US1Bus?...
It's almost like MDOT never bothered completely getting hip to their own route changes...

Absent any clearer info, I'll probably just no no-build here.
