LA: US 167 and LA 182 rerouted in Lafayette
« on: November 06, 2023, 03:42:35 pm »
Apologies for overlooking these in my previous thread.  There are several changes to note.

The US 167 reroute was approved at the AASHTO 2022 Spring meeting.  According to LA DOTD's road transfer maps and GSV, the route is as follows:

US 167 follows its current route from its southern terminus to LA 3025 in Lafayette, then runs concurrently with LA 3025 to LA 3184, concurrently with LA 3184 to I-10, and concurrently with I-10 east to I-49, where it resumes its current route north on I-49.  The portion of Johnston St. from LA 3025 to US 90 is no longer a state maintained route, the US 167 concurrency with US 90 has been removed, and former US 167 from US 90 to I-49 is now LA 182, which will be discussed later.

Northbound:  Sign at LA 3025:  https://www.google.com/maps/@30.2071377,-92.0386796,3a,16.7y,96.56h,88.04t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1siJMed1TOply7tQ9DyQqKmg!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu

At LA 3184:  https://www.google.com/maps/@30.2228411,-92.0524819,3a,15.9y,344.3h,90.63t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sg5U1-ghDu0lieAbF0xjG_Q!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu

North of US 90:  https://www.google.com/maps/@30.2328871,-92.0624631,3a,43.4y,9.46h,90.08t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sdXv1D9hCMfmE9jN72I9F1w!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu

I didn't see any signs at I-10, but US 167 is still on the sign for the I-49 northbound exit:  https://www.google.com/maps/@30.2571768,-92.0211402,3a,34.9y,66.7h,95.78t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sFwLTIoHEsAY5o_HytVD1IQ!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu

Southbound:  The BGSs on I-49/US 167 haven't been updated, but US 167 is shown on the sign for exit 100:  https://www.google.com/maps/@30.2470971,-92.0625435,3a,75y,274.19h,94.76t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s1Le-fD7uo-WxLHe0MjteEg!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu

On LA 3184 south of the interchange:  https://www.google.com/maps/@30.2427084,-92.0663271,3a,75y,187.31h,89.9t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sPIBrIqk3-mdupUvX_X3GaA!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu

It continues to be signed along the new southbound route until you wind up back at Johnston St:  https://www.google.com/maps/@30.2078223,-92.0389097,3a,15y,153.42h,90.92t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sFXDg47foE4ct8YPFzICtKA!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu

LA 182 has been rerouted as follows:  It approaches I-10 from the north on its current alignment, then runs concurrently with I-10 east to the I-49 interchange, then south on former US 167 to US 90, then concurrently with US 90 south to where it currently exits US 90 at exit 115B.

Southbound:  Again, I could not find any signage at the interchange with I-10, but the BGS on I-10 eastbound now shows LA 182 southbound at exit 103A:  https://www.google.com/maps/@30.2573096,-92.0208125,3a,75y,87.1h,110.32t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sNwZFVRHX_oTkC5QWCl2dgQ!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu

Here's a sign on the Evangeline Thruway after exiting the interstate:  https://www.google.com/maps/@30.2540993,-92.0145204,3a,19.9y,209.12h,87.75t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sOnsRB8CmyO12q6qXJ1Lqww!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu

At the start of the US 90 concurrency:  https://www.google.com/maps/@30.2330699,-92.0140976,3a,48.3y,190.08h,85.31t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sWQQke9LwyDAAaEIeXCMznw!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu

Here's a northbound sign at Southpark Rd., showing that LA 182 now continues with US 90 instead of turning onto Southpark:  https://www.google.com/maps/@30.1718365,-91.9803598,3a,75y,331.06h,85.58t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sE6E0DcSIFPNd6OM7DVlMFQ!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu

Unfortunately, there is once again no signage to be found at the interstate for the northbound route, but here is a sign just past the northern junction with US 90:  https://www.google.com/maps/@30.2332025,-92.012751,3a,40.8y,24.23h,89.8t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sRzSvT0TVR4RcH_uydCN3Iw!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu

University Ave. from I-10 south to W. Pinhook and W. Pinhook to LA 89-1 are no longer state routes.  Now, there is still an LA 182 sign south of I-10 along the old route:  https://www.google.com/maps/@30.2502482,-92.035807,3a,75y,186.64h,90.68t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1smoVpzeHRQCjOAoLV_uARSw!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu

However, all other signs seem to have been removed.  Signage is gone at US 90, Johnston St. (former US 167), W. Pinhook, and LA 89-1.

To keep the post length down, I'll make a separate topic for the decommissioning of US 90 Business and a couple of other routes.

Edit:  I'm not sure if this is important, but the re-route of US 167 means that LA 3184 is now concurrent with US 167 for its entire length.

No need to apologize. It's easier for me to process small groups of changes at a time anyway. https://github.com/TravelMapping/HighwayData/pull/7003

For some reason, after tonight's update the LA 182 concurrency with US 90 isn't working from GirRd to US90(115B).  The rest of the concurrency seems to be working properly.

The coordinates of the 115A point on US90 and the US90(115A) point on LA182 do not match, thus breaking the concurrency. I actually noticed this a few days ago and had not gotten around to reporting it yet, so it doesn't appear to be a result of tonight's update.

On a somewhat related note, it appears as though LA182-2 has been decommissioned. Wiki[citation needed]pedia mentions the date as August 10, 2022, and points to a LADOTD GIS map, which indeed shows the route as no longer being a state highway. However, GSV still shows signage since they haven't been through since April/May 2022.

Oh ok, I didn't notice until I was checking waypoints after tonight's update.

I noticed that decommission on the most recent map, but like you said, GSV hasn't caught up yet.  I may be going to the Lafayette area in the next month, so hopefully I can check it in person.

US 90/LA 182 NMP: https://github.com/TravelMapping/HighwayData/pull/7008

I also noticed that LADOTD had divested itself of 182-2 but as you said, the signs remain in the most recent GMSV imagery, so I left it alone for now.
