Title: KS: El Dorado Truck Routes
Post by: the_spui_ninja on October 22, 2017, 01:55:22 am
I was in El Dorado today, and I noticed that in addition to the truck routes already in the HB, there is a Truck KS 254, around the the south side of town, following Kansas Ave, Traffic Way, and Haverhill Rd. However, after some GMSV digging, there appears to be a well-signed truck "loop" around El Dorado that is just signed based on what highway you're going to (the northwest side follows Haverhill + 6th).

How will this work? I guess the routes could be extended around the "loop" as necessary, given that it doesn't self-intersect (by about three blocks or so)... but I don't know.

Well, they were well signed...

Yeah...
If some of the route(s) should be in, then probably they should all be in.
If some of the route(s) should be out, then probably they should all be out.
Either case means... doing something.

Given your description in the OP, it sounds like they may be better considered Truck Routes TO [what highway you're going to] (like (https://www.google.com/maps/@43.0716181,-73.7922786,3a,34.2y,31.26h,87.23t/data=!3m9!1e1!3m7!1s1oHPmlQD0GNFMo4U9BYBaw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!9m2!1b1!2i41) these (https://www.google.com/maps/@43.0701636,-73.788616,3a,33.3y,20.65h,89.59t/data=!3m10!1e1!3m8!1s2owhGnMyVt2sBC9Z3oLrcw!2e0!6s%2F%2Fgeo2.ggpht.com%2Fcbk%3Fpanoid%3D2owhGnMyVt2sBC9Z3oLrcw%26output%3Dthumbnail%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile.gps%26thumb%3D2%26w%3D203%26h%3D100%26yaw%3D14.048445%26pitch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i13312!8i6656!9m2!1b1!2i41)), and may be best left out.

I'll give things a look around in GMSV & see what the situation is, and what I decide.

Heh. When I wrote that last post I was 3 days into a 4-day C++ jag, and didn't relish the thought of the Stupid Truck Routes making me Do Something About It, when I just wanted to close my browser tabs.
Stupid truck routes!

They seem similar to the truck routes in Hastings, NE (another semi-confusing loop of routes) and those aren't in at all.

Still plan to look into this, but it's on the backburner.

The truck routes for US 54 and US 77 are more complicated than the HB indicates. And they have a new friend, KS 254 Truck (https://www.google.com/maps/@37.8117523,-96.8497398,3a,39.9y,206.78h,97.03t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sv58O0jKyQuU1VS-ed92DiQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656).

Together, they form a rough square around the center of El Dorado, following (counterclockwise from South Main/US54/US77) Kansas-Conner-Sunset (https://www.google.com/maps/@37.8042293,-96.8804652,3a,75y,196.65h,87.67t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s7xzgKMumy2wEu_znum4BQw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) (south leg) - Haverhill (https://www.google.com/maps/@37.8183167,-96.8804825,3a,49.1y,5.44h,96.99t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s5EmT6MYn5uZiVU1GUrzd2g!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) (west leg) - 6th (https://www.google.com/maps/@37.8247975,-96.8513218,3a,24.3y,286.14h,86.46t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s_3k9eCweYhBeb9HuObd8lQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) (north leg) - Vine-Locust (https://www.google.com/maps/@37.8174945,-96.8479201,3a,30.5y,279.15h,94.62t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sM2UERv2jYdE73hKot5Z_4Q!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) (existing east leg).

Signage was present earlier this week at or near where it shows in GMSV.

There may be more (NM?) -- grep datacheckfps.csv

I know there's some in Beatrice, NE
streetview (https://www.google.com/maps/@40.2659083,-96.7526213,3a,27.4y,124.54h,91.01t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sqHtKvNC96J9t4Eb4_1Oe3w!2e0!7i13312!8i6656)

These however utilize oneways on the north and south sides of US 136/NE 4, so they're a tad different.

LOL just realized I had the wrong city a couple years ago:
They seem similar to the truck routes in Hastings, NE (another semi-confusing loop of routes) and those aren't in at all.

I meant Beatrice I swear

Bumping these as well with the Beatrice update; maybe a workable option here would be to add a Truck 254 following 6th, Haverhill, Trafficway, and Kansas.
