OSM shows that the route has been twinned and realigned in the vicinity of SH 628, which I confirmed in the field yesterday. There's also some twinning going on west of there, close to Dorion and Ouimet, but it appears that they're just building the new eastbound lanes next to the current roadway. It was dark, so I couldn't tell if the carriageway I was traveling in had been rerouted. The pavement was new.

Thanks for the heads up. Would have probably spotted this once I got to SH-628 in the Secondary Highways system, but good to know ahead of time. Will deal with this soon.
Probably only mark the section around SH-628 as newsworthy, as south of that intersection, the realignment is only a few feet from the new lanes.
And per StreetView, this has been realigned since 2018! (April '18 on new WB lanes (https://goo.gl/maps/z64LvTa7pEMcWnfSA); October '18 new EB lanes open (https://goo.gl/maps/ftnwScwEoamrMptQ7) - both @ SH-628)

I drove between Nipigon and Thunder Bay last year, so I think I'm good there (and elsewhere in Ontario, after this year's visit). Though I lost my TCH clinch in Quebec's A-85 corridor starting in December 2021, and wasn't planning on going back until A-85 is completed. The TCH is all a game of whack-a-mole, anyway.
