TN: TN 126 in Kingsport
« on: July 03, 2023, 12:58:29 pm »
Houston, we have a TN 126 problem.

So the route in the HB is posted and seems to be fine as-is.  However, TN 126 is also posted along Southgate Dr and even has a 0 mile marker there.

Personally, I think I would go the AR 36 (Searcy) route and create a TN 126 (Kingsport) along Southgate Dr so that the current TN 126 stays as-is, but  :pan:

TN 126 was moved onto Southgate Dr about 2004.  Postings for Wilcox (removed from state hwy system) at TN 93 are erroneous.

There is also a TN 126 Business posting from TN 93 EB at Wilcox - https://goo.gl/maps/GyMDYgjayeYk6HVDA
This might be a relic from when that was TN 93 Business before TN 126 was extended.

But TN 126 WB is posted on Wilcox as if it it turns onto Southgate, with no TN 126 Business posting.

All I needed to do was drive in circles a little longer.  I seriously did not see that TN 126 BUS sign in the area.  I thought that Wikipedia was making something up with the TN 126 BUS referenced in the article (unlike the one that actually exists in Blountville).

I'll count those 126 signs at the ramp as a case of missing TO banners, and ignore the Business 126 sign just like Mark did while he was driving. Fortunately no one was using the TN126_W point on TN 93, so I only made an updates entry for TN 126. Added a couple of points for overlooked GSJs on TN 93 while I had it open.

Did you get any Pal's while you were down there? Anytime I see one of those garish buildings, I can't not stop.

No, however, those buildings are oddly unique.  That is for sure.

Well, TDOT decided that they liked our old, incorrect routing better than the routing they had signed, so I reverted the reroute in tonight's submission.

New sign as of last November.
