Title: MD: MD 79 Truncation
Post by: Markkos1992 on March 07, 2021, 03:26:12 pm
The 2018 HLR (https://www.roads.maryland.gov/OPPEN/CO10_HLR.pdf) shows MD 79 now ending at the bridge over Little Catoctin Creek.

2018 GSV shows "TO" banners on the MD 79 shields at MD 180. (https://www.google.com/maps/@39.3467457,-77.6105357,3a,75y,251.64h,90.09t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sKX3fKschUDZvpTAXyVTSyw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656)  (I was able to verify that this is the case in both directions in the field.)

The bridge over Little Catoctin Creek also appears to be the town boundary of Rosemont.

I did a quick GSV tour and it appears that there are NO reassurance shields left on southbound 79 -- and only one on northbound, at the southern end of the route. The only other MD 79 signs are at the intersection of Rosemont Drive, unsigned MD 871G.

And some more mileage gets sliced off my list. Sigh.
