WV: WV 243
« on: August 31, 2024, 03:21:01 pm »
Credit to @jpi for finding what seems to be a new WV 243.

It is at least signed from I-81, and the GIS map I linked shows it going from CR 30 (south of WV 45) to US 11 (east of I-81 Exit 8 ).

A field check would be required to clarify if WV 243 is signed to WV 45.

I'm not sure if that map data is even that recent to be honest.

Taking a look at it, it still shows WV-972, and that route has been gone since 2017, when WV-93 was extended over it.

So my field check earlier today only shows WV 243 signage on I-81 itself and at the off-ramps.  Currently there is no other signage on WV 243 itself, US 11, CR 30, and WV 45.

Must have been a SUPER recent change, as GSV was there in May '24, and it still only showed CR-32 on the BGS's.

Pics?

Take your time.  No rush.

Just find it interesting that you said it's only signed @ the interchange for now.  Based on that, have to keep this on the radar till we see which direction(s) they'll sign, and what adjustments I'll have to make to the other routes.

Interesting. So, the only signage is on the ramps from I-81 & I-81 itself so far.  I'll wait a little bit more before I craft this route, mainly to see how they deal with the western end and if they sign it up to WV-45 along CR-30, or just end it @ the CR-30 intersection.  This is only due to them just starting the signage project, as proven by GSV being there in May '24, and there was no WV-243 signage yet.  For all we know, they could have literately just put up those WV-243 signs within a week of you being there.

The signage has been there since at least mid-August when jpi was there.  I did not go to Martinsburg when driving to the Quad State Meet in favor of redriving VA 7 between Winchester and I-495.

So no changes in signage for WV 243 as of today (checking US 11, I checked WV 45 and CR 30 again Wednesday).  I think at this point I will just check the US 11 intersection when going through the area, and then checking the CR 30/WV 45 area if I see signage at US 11.

Well WV 243 is on the Berkeley County Map now, but I am unsure if it really helps us.
Is it just me, or is the line east from Arden just a bit thicker than the others?
I opened it in Inkscape, and yes, WV 243 is 3.333 px while the other three lines are 2.667 px. So WV 243 runs from CR 30 east to US 11.

I swung by on Sunday to see if signage had changed, and it hasn't since Mark was there. Doesn't WVDOT have a schematic or something for the project that shows the endpoints?
