Title: AASHTO Fall 2023 Meeting
Post by: Markkos1992 on December 04, 2023, 08:38:02 pm
https://transportation.org/route/wp-content/uploads/sites/6/2023/12/Final_Report_USRN_Fall_2023_R_1.pdf

I am too tired to do much else with this for now, but yes, US 78 was approved to go into AR.   :pan:

I believe the US 1 removal is the decommissioning of US 1 ALT (Franklinton, NC).

And we got an extension of I-27 in TX too!

Wonder how TXDot is gonna deal with the exit numbers for it. lol.

Here's the text of the items, all approved (the withdrawn ones 'with condition', and the condition seems to be that the states withdrew it!). The next post will turn this into something more collapsed.

The US 70 Bus reversion to US 70 is for Clayton, not Smithfield

it's the Smithfield route in our browser.

Theory: did OK get the 3xx numbers for the Fut240 renumbering the wrong way around? Kilpatrick meets I-35, Kickapoo doesn't.

I-335 in the far future is supposed to connect to I-35 south of Norman somewhere.

  • North Dakota, US 85B (Williston) Establishment of a temporary route - already in browser? (https://travelmapping.net/hb/showroute.php?r=nd.us085bypwil)

Yeah I was reading that and it sounds like ND's just making it official. Might be they're planning on relocating it?

Looks like the 85B is indeed temporary until this (https://www.dot.nd.gov/projects/williston/docs/Williston-NE-TRR-FONSI-(PCN%2020788).pdf) project gets off the ground. Don't know why they didn't just make an ND 1804 truck route but whatever.

  • Alabama, US 411 Relocation - ???

This one was ALDOT finally catching up for a new alignment north of Gadsden that is already in TM.

Major NEA cities, US67, Walnut Ridge / Hoxie... My first thought was they might run it up along I-555. But nooooo. Then I read more. :pan: is right.
ARDOT did the right thing by straightening out US63. And now they're making up for it with this. :P

US 1 ALT in Franklinton, NC, is still signed from US 1 as of Saturday.

Was there a map version/packet of this list somewhere?

Because I look at what's written for US 78 and it makes absolutely no freaking sense, but on the other hand, it's Arkansas.

(Yakra appears to have covered this, but I must "WTF, Arkansas?" any and all times necessary.)

No maps on the forum thread (https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=34216.msg2898779#msg2898779).

However, the US 78 thread has a link to the map in the first post (https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=34049.msg2879139#msg2879139).

New thread for US 78 (at least in TN):  https://forum.travelmapping.net/index.php?topic=6153.msg34126;topicseen#msg34126

I guess yakra is on another long hiatus, but I really would have liked any thread on this to be AR/TN.

Drove OK 152, Kilpatrick and Kickapoo today.  Goog, Waze and OSM have them marked as the new numbers.

Guess what...

No signs!!! (don't expect them for several months. :pan: )

we wait...

Almost certainly one over-zealous editor changing (at least) one of them, then the others got changed thanks to citogenesis.

Side note - Interesting they chose I-344 when OK 344 exists in Tulsa (Gilcrease Expressway)

Goog was in before OSM was unfortunately.

the Goog is full of issues like this. Random AI/Person in a desk in a place where labour is really cheap receives a request, backed up with a source. They approve.

London's transit layer repeatedly loses the Elizabeth line and regains it (as it's not part of the London Underground, but also it's a key part of the TfL network) and Battersea Power Station tube station flicks between being shown on the map as 'Battersea Power' and the correct name because of a few transit YouTubers' in jokes meaning people who've likely never been to London (and are probably 13) file corrections that Google accepts based on the source due to them having little-to-no knowledge of the issue and no ability to detect sarcasm and then someone else corrects with better sources and there's little to no cross referencing.

Think the jokey edits on Wikipedia without the dedicated (and often humourless) people reverting them. At least these Interstate numbers are real and the issue is it not yet being signed (cf the AARW on I-515, where it's a redirect to I-11, even though it's premature).
