So I looked at those, and my first thought was "Wait why are those points there?". Then I looked at street view from '09, and lo and behold there were exits! Whoever at WyDOT thought multiple exits every two miles in the Red Desert was a good idea drunk too much whiskey the night before. I'll get these out the next time I do a highway data update.

I recall a few exits like this from my 2005 trip.  I surmised that they existed due to lack of access from a local road grid (since I-80 in that area largely subsumed US 30's former alignment).  Some aerial imagery (plus GMSV) suggests the eastbound ramps at 166 and 168 were taken out by 2009 though.

But if the infrastructure is already there, why not just leave it?
It's not like.. is there an overpass getting removed?

On Google Streetview, were the removed exits basically RIROs?

My guess is WYDOT decided the reason for the exits no longer existed so removing them saved on maintenance costs.

No, they were full diamond interchanges, with two examples basically having 1-lane underpasses underneath I-80.

Just an FYI, an update entry isn't really needed for marking an exit closed unless a realignment happened.

Looks like Exit 154 was RIRO on both sides in 2011 before it was demolished.

They have a lot of those style exits in WY, but not in any of the surrounding states as far as I can tell. Some state highways even end at those exits (196, 319 off the top of my head)!
