Per AARoads (http://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=17749.0), this pointless segment is in fact signed.
This designation is also correct per UDOT's route viewer here (https://maps.udot.utah.gov/highway/f?p=184:4).
Also from the same thread (and from the routeviewer) UT 48 has been truncated to the Bangerter (UT 154) and UT 209 extended over its old routing.

More problems arise from this developing area.
As per this (http://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=4045.msg2072374#msg2072374) post on AARoads, the completion of the Pioneer Crossing has caused some changes to the routes of both UT 73 and UT 145; UT 73 is now in two segments (one from UT 36 to Crossroads Boulevard and the other from I-15 to US 89), while UT 145 has been extended up the Pioneer Crossing to Crossroads Boulevard. Yes, this means the west segment of UT 73 and UT 145 end at each other.
-
Additionally, UT 197 appears to have been deleted.
-
On top of all that, UT 154 has new exits at UT 68 (3) and UT 48 (13), and UT 151 appears to extend to US 89 (there are two END signs, one where the current ending in TM is and one at US 89).

New issues:
UT 140: truncated from UT 68 to 800 W in Bluffdale.
UT 131: another new route? This is in the same area as UT 140.
