The above link is the New Mexico Milepost interactive portal with ersi maps supported by lots of sources.
This may be no more than a technicality, but NMDOT shows US-70 routed through the Deming Business District instead of along I-10 (Motel Blvd). A field check does show this as well. Important to note that US Routes are not signed along the Interstates in NM.
Even more confusing is US-180 is shown on the interstate itself. Yet at the main junction between them (would it be into town) shows US-180 as a direct connection as opposed to showing "TO US-180". A side note - there still is a fresh US-80 on Motel Blvd in Deming.
Most of the signage seems meaningless anyway since the only viable E/W route is I-10. I was trying to find route logs and failed. (I did find this - http://dot.state.nm.us/content/dam/nmdot/Data_Management/US_AADT_Listing.pdf but short read shows it useless)

I'll look into this when I have time, after returning from the road. But as a frequent visitor to Deming, I've seen the US 70 and US 80 shields on I-10BL going back several years, and written them as remnant old signage. i also don't recall any signage on I-10 indicating that US 70 leaves the Interstate to pass through town. I've also seen the US 180 signs in Deming south of I-10, and did not take them seriously (that applies also to much of the other route signage in NM).

Is this still open?

If they're old - they didn't look very old at all when I saw them.

I've marked this as "solved".
