Route changes in Niagara Falls? (https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=27755)
I'll try and remember to check on these next month when in the area. I'm not convinced that all of these are actually in place as signed. There have been some disconnects in Niagara Falls for a while.

I can confirm that there have been no changes to signed routes in Niagara Falls. There is no signage to indicate that 104 turns onto 1st Street, while 384 continues to use Niagara Street and John B Daly Blvd. The only recent change is the truncation of the northern section of Niagara Scenic Parkway to Findlay Drive.

Alright, some NY 17 fun. Our source at Region 6 posted in one of the Facebook groups that NYSDOT is making a conscious decision to remove all NY 17 signage west of US 220, as well as NY 15 signage along the I-86 and I-390 overlaps. 15 has already been truncated on TM, but this would effectively delete all of current NY NY 17. All of 17 west of Waverly/220 is concurrent with I-86, so nothing would be deleted from the system other than the NY 17 designation.
I can confirm that, apart from a couple of older overheads that are scheduled to be replaced within the next few years, most NY 17 signs are gone west of Waverly as of last week. The remaining ground-mounted signs are supposed to come down this year. This effectively means that NY 17 will be unsigned west of US 220 in the very near future (it already does not officially exist west of there according to Region 6).

I drove on the Southern Tier Expressway today from exit 54 to 36 and back while google maps hasn't been updated yet, I noticed today that a lot if not all of the I-86/NY-17/NY-15 shields have been replaced with standalone I-86 shields with the southern tier expressway shield underneath the just simply marks the road as I-86 Southern Tier Expressway. I guess DOT finally took the guts to remove some of the NY-17 and NY-15 shields along that stretch.

As of August 5th, I saw quite a few NY 17 shields along the section I drove between NY 280 and US 219 in the Salamanca area.

Those are a weird case since the Seneca Nation raised a stink about I-86 when NYSDOT started installing the enhanced mile markers. Apparently they think the agreement the state made with them to build NY 17 through there doesn't allow the route designation to be changed or something like that.

I agree with this. Any new NY 17 shields are only on the Seneca Nation and I'm not convinced they aren't erroneous/political. There's some weird stuff that goes on around the reservations to keep the Seneca happy and keeping 17 signs may be one of those things. I trust our NYSDOT sources when they say that an effort is being made to kill it west of Waverly, given that at least one of them is actually part of these efforts at the regional level.

How far west does the Seneca Nation go? I drove I-86 west of the NY 430 connector and wonder if the NY 17 shields are under this same issue.

^ It's approximately from just east of exit 17 to halfway between exits 23 and 24 (west of the rest area). Each end is marked with a sign (https://www.google.com/maps/@42.0892098,-78.5672507,3a,24.6y,263.74h,87.58t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1szyvNs29NltHg7HbHC5BiYQ!2e0!6shttps:%2F%2Fstreetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com%2Fv1%2Fthumbnail?panoid=zyvNs29NltHg7HbHC5BiYQ%26cb_client=maps_sv.tactile.gps%26w=203%26h=100%26yaw=18.045902%26pitch=0%26thumbfov=100!7i13312!8i6656) like this (https://www.google.com/maps/@42.1056051,-78.8948696,3a,49.1y,120.63h,84.39t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s443Q3qtYeO4lmqkXgZCCpw!2e0!7i16384!8i8192).

I drove I-86 from Hornell to US 219 today. No ground-mounted NY 17 signs in Region 6, but they reappeared upon entering Region 5.

There will be a new exit ramp from the northbound Hutchinson River Parkway to Bartow Ave, which will be signed as Exit 2, according to the contract plans (sheets 321 and 322) (https://www.dot.ny.gov/portal/pls/portal/MEXIS_APP.BC_CONST_NOTICE_ADMIN.VIEWFILE?p_file_id=35900&p_is_digital=Y). Fall 2025: (https://www.dot.ny.gov/portal/pls/portal/MEXIS_APP.DYN_PROJECT_DETAILS.show?p_arg_names=p_pin&p_arg_values=778009)
NY12E will be relocated from its existing bridge over the Black River in Brownville to a new bridge approximately 0.5 miles to the west. The existing bridge will be demolished, and the rest of the existing alignment in Brownville will revert to Jefferson County.
Contract plans are here. (https://www.dot.ny.gov/portal/pls/portal/MEXIS_APP.BC_CONST_NOTICE_ADMIN.VIEWFILE?p_file_id=42342&p_is_digital=Y) Scheduled completion for the new bridge, and thus the reroute, is November 30, 2024 (slide 10) (https://www.dot.ny.gov/portal/pls/portal/MEXIS_APP.BC_CONST_NOTICE_ADMIN.VIEWFILE?p_file_id=42604&p_is_digital=Y).

I was at the site of the new NY 12E bridge last weekand recorded locations of the north (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1boVrs5nE96UrJ6I3wIqjU8-DLvpodbWO/view?usp=drive_link) and south (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1e309KDmH_meK2ML20POw_CRpszvTroyx/view?usp=drive_link) ends.
Exits on I-81 just north of Syracuse have been renumbered (mostly without reference to the old numbers) but closer to Watertown they haven't changed yet.
-
Aah yes. that line shown in Google Maps matches up just about perfectly. Jolly good then!

Does NY 12E look like it's close to reopening or like it still has a ways to go?

The approaches were complete, but there was still a decent amount of construction equipment on the bridge itself. I'm thinking it wasn't completely built yet, because if it looked like I could have walked across, I would have pre-clinched it.
