In case it's not already on your radar, AB 43X is being extended to meet AB 43 west of Grande Prairie, to create a northern bypass of the city. That would let through travelers avoid the painful slog through the city that I endured earlier today. The extension does not look like opening is imminent.

Reports from mid-July said the AB43X extension would be open by the end of August. I've not found any more recent news of the actual opening.

The west portion of the ring road is scheduled to be completed in 2023, the South Bow River Bridge project is scheduled to be complete in 2023 and the northeast Stoney Trail widening project is scheduled to be finished later this year.
