Earlier today, I spotted (and clinched) a US 53 business route not in the HB, this one in Minong (separate from the two in the HB for Solon Springs and Superior). OSM doesn't show it, but ESRI World Street Map shows its routing, as may other online maps in the HB's and Waypoint Editor's menus.
GMSV shows at least one of the signs for the route. (https://www.google.com/maps/@46.0788496,-91.8327271,3a,41.5y,26.3h,96.54t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sV3WTZR5ybTDxxBfQPWr1rQ!2e0!6s%2F%2Fgeo1.ggpht.com%2Fcbk%3Fpanoid%3DV3WTZR5ybTDxxBfQPWr1rQ%26output%3Dthumbnail%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile.gps%26thumb%3D2%26w%3D203%26h%3D100%26yaw%3D98.27341%26pitch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i13312!8i6656) (Good thing, I didn't take any photos.) Some of the signage looks old, route may have been around for awhile.

That one was in the HB once, but got deleted a couple of years ago.

Yep, our updates list has the deletion in September 2015 (so it was in TM days). But no discussion of the deletion in our forum. If it took place on the CHM forum, that's now toast.

IIRC this was dropped because it was not consistently signed. The only GMSV along the route is from 2009 - goodness, Google, can't you drive through the oldest places once more in hi-def? - and that sign you found is the only one I see. It's not signed at the WI 77 intersection at all from what I can tell.
If there's a clamor to bring it back, I still have the file.

I saw two other BR route signs just going northbound, a reassurance marker somewhere in the middle of the route (might've been at WI 77), and an end sign just before the route rejoins US 53 at its north end. That's pretty good for such a short route.
Count me in the "clamor".

Signs on the mainline (as shown in the link above) should be enough to keep.

Sure, bring it back.

It's back. Thanx.
Moving this to "solved".
