Title: DE: Delaware Alternative Routes

I sent DelDot an email clarifying the status of this route (https://travelmapping.net/hb/index.php?units=miles&u=markkos1992&r=de.de024altzoa).  The 2019 Traffic Counts (https://deldot.gov/Publications/manuals/traffic_counts/pdfs/2019/2019Interstate_USRoutes_DelawareRoutes.pdf?cache=1592088235966) show a routing concurrent entirely with DE 23 and DE 1D.  The only posting I found related to the route shown in the HB west of DE 23 is the turn at Hollymount Rd.  (It is not posted on DE 23 south of here. I corrected my original post to reference west of DE 23.   It is currently not posted at the DE 5/DE 23 intersection (https://www.google.com/maps/@38.6636894,-75.2229619,3a,75y,172.34h,79.17t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1syg6QwDq0sUA32DufAhrE2Q!2e0!7i16384!8i8192) or the DE 23/DE 24/DE 5 intersection (https://www.google.com/maps/@38.6340786,-75.1946035,3a,75y,51.6h,94.46t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sQkzVZvPuAFL4uYFYqjUA8g!2e0!7i16384!8i8192).  It is posted at its eastern end at DE 24 (https://www.google.com/maps/@38.7249474,-75.1413119,3a,75y,260.37h,99.1t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sl3AysOGYDV4vDbrEZLmRjQ!2e0!7i16384!8i8192). 
I did not see posting at Five Points.

Before I retired (2014), on my trips to/from Norfolk, I recall seeing signs at or near where it crosses DE 30.

While this route is still on the DelDOT Traffic Counts (https://deldot.gov/Publications/manuals/traffic_counts/pdfs/2019/2019Interstate_USRoutes_DelawareRoutes.pdf?cache=1592088235966) for 2019, 2019 GSV along this route shows that all shields have been removed (most after 2018).

Hopefully, I can ask DelDOT on this route if/when I get an answer on DE 24 ALT (Zoar).

I did find 2019 GSV (https://www.google.com/maps/@38.6754101,-75.2214528,3a,75y,283.96h,95.4t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1spvENG3VYLGfb8HtDT9uduQ!2e0!7i16384!8i8192) around the Holly Mount Ave/DE 23 intersection not showing a turn for DE 24 ALT with it still being posted on DE 23 NB.  I think I am fine at this point rerouting it back to DE 24 via DE 23.

I merged these topics to address everything at once after checking DelDOT's GIS data.

Their Delaware Routes (http://opendata.firstmap.delaware.gov/datasets/delaware-routes) feature was just updated last week and shows DE 54 Alt as an existing route.  Curiously, it still shows DE 34.

Of note are the routes it does *NOT* show as still existing:

DE 5 Alt (Milton)
DE 9 Truck (New Castle)
DE 24 Alt
DE 404 Truck

These will require further investigation (especially the truck routes), but I thought this would help as it's likely where DelDOT will give you their answer from.

DelDOT responded to me Monday and just linked me to this page (https://deldot.gov/Programs/gate/index.shtml). 

I will have to check on whether the others are still posted.  I know DE 9 TRUCK (New Castle) was posted as of February 2019.

In response to Monday's email, I asked DelDOT if DE 24 ALT and DE 54 ALT may be fully reposted.  (DE 54 ALT is still shown on the GIS files as of what I saw today though.)

Their basic response was that these routes do not exist anymore with no plans to repost them.  Oddly, they linked me to AARoads for more information on them.

I went ahead and deleted DE 24 ALT (Zoar) and DE 54 ALT (Bethany Beach).  I left DE 404 Truck (Georgetown) as-is for now.
