It looks like this road may be open by the end of the year.

It is currently planned to be open on Monday.

And we just missed it.  Saw that post on Friday as we were heading out towards Kinston.  Took the opportunity to get the existing parts of NC 148 between US 70 and NC 58 for the first time.  Saw the barrels were still up.  Later, we drove under the new interchange at NC 11 as we were connecting out parts between Kinston and Ayden.  Will just have to be patient until we're next down that way.
