The tentative date of opening at the moment is December 23rd. (https://www.wfmynews2.com/article/news/local/new-section-of-greensboro-urban-loop-to-open-this-month/83-ee51b431-6be4-403f-9248-4c57b77ea73c)

The new extension opening tomorrow (Wed 12/23) will extend I-840 in Greensboro east from Lawndale Dr. [exit 8] about two miles to N. Elm St.

I don't know the number for the new N. Elm St. exit. No exits between exit 8 and N. Elm St.
The next extension, which would complete I-840 to US 29/I-785, is not expected to open until 2022 or 2023.

NC is doing a lot of freeway openings tomorrow. NC-74 (Future I-74) is getting a new segment tomorrow as well.

I was down there earlier today, and clinched the new segment. OSM now shows it as open if you zoom in enough, with exit 10 as the new endpoint.
That exit number is not posted at the exit. However, there is a sign at exit 8 stating that the freeway continues for one more exit, and that exit is numbered 10. I can post a photo, if that helps.

Attached is a photo I took on December 29, confirming that I-840 is now open to exit 10.

I had a post on this in the 6-Month Outlook board that I realized was not merged here.

Bumping this, since the December 2020 extension of I-840 to Elm St. (exit 10) still isn't in the HB.
