Title: IL: IL 98 Extend to Detroit Ave?
Post by: Markkos1992 on June 07, 2021, 06:24:02 pm
GSV shows IL 98 signed east of I-155 to (https://www.google.com/maps/@40.6060894,-89.4760328,3a,75y,194.02h,80.08t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s53EkpN9wu8thcK3g588W_Q!2e0!7i16384!8i8192) Detroit Ave (https://www.google.com/maps/@40.6051906,-89.4732553,3a,75y,236.2h,89.75t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sLbVCBibDcT15u62w4ILjGw!2e0!7i16384!8i8192).

According to the official city map it ends at I-155 - the mainline part of I-155, even, not where the northbound ramps meet.

Also, there is no signage on Detroit with "98 ->" although there is "155->".

Maybe I'll consider making a slight detour to field check this while clinching I-74 on my way back from the Quad Cities Meet.  Otherwise, this sounds like a missing "TO" scenario (for both I-155 and IL 98).

The end sign (https://www.google.com/maps/@40.6048864,-89.4784483,3a,75y,99.59h,86.34t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s8UfBD5oAO7zZl3tKMOCYbw!2e0!7i16384!8i8192) in between the two overpasses of I-155 from the same Aug 2019 GMSV make it look like some missing TO signs and a wrong arrow sign.

Yeah, my field check Sunday showed what bhemphill stated.  I am considering this one as a "no-build" scenario at this point.
