Title: MD: MD450 Old
Post by: Duke87 on December 06, 2021, 10:12:54 pm
So this was an odd find. What is inventoried as MD450B in Bowie is signed - quite thoroughly! - as MD450 with "OLD" as a banner:

Since it is part of the state highway system and thoroughly signed, I am adding it... have we ever used "Old" as a banner anywhere else?

It appears that there are not currently any "Old" banners in our data.  The shield generator's banner code might need a quick update to support this.

Are there "Historic" banners shown in the HB for any of our routes? Not only none in the ones in usaush I checked, but also not for two in usaca for Historic CA 49, signed in the field with green Historic banners.

I've been in the FedroSplat long enough (and had friends in that part of Bowie) to remember when that was the actual routing of MD 450. MDOT rerouted it back in the oughts to allow for a widening of the roadway. Old 450 east of MD 197 was demolished, but west of 197 wasn't because of the need for access to developments and to Church Road. I honestly thought they'd turned that stretch back to the county, though, and that the "OLD 450" signage had been put there by the county.
